Survey of Tamil & Grantha - "Sitpaviyal" (Architectural & Sculptural) and "Kanakkiyal" (Mathamatical) Treatises of Tamil Nadu

The early Treatises on Sitpaviyal (Architectural & Sculptural) of Tamil Nadu

During the period of first century B.C. we find the earliest reference to Architectural treatise in use in Tamil Nadu is seen from the Sangam period Tamil Literary work known as "Nedunevaadai".

This thread is being opened with an intention of making a brief study on the Sitpaviyal (Architectural & Sculptural), and Kanakkiyal (Mathamatical) Treatises presently available in Tamil Nadu.

For the start the names of some of these Treatises are given below, and later a detailed study on same will be presented for the benefit of the Readers.

The available Treatises are as follows:

(1) Mayamatham
(2) Kaasiyapa Silpa Sastram
(3) Sitparathinam
(4) Sitparatnaagasuram
(5) Sakalathikaaram
(6) Maanasaram

(7) Aaththaana Kolakalam
(8) Kanakkathikaarem

(9) Koova Nool
