Yes, I share your great love for our rich Tamil proverbs. My maternal grandmother was s torehouse of them. All her 'vasavu' came in the form of proverbs. All her vasavu were well meant and proved manure for us- the tilled land.
Proverbs are admirable for their meaning in concise terms, couched in very imaginative and very local similes and metaphors. AND as you rightly mentioned, they bring back the associations when they were heard by us in our young years. Such a treasurehouse of knowledge AND fond memories! How I miss TN aka TSO who was very enthusiastic when I opened this thread.
Eager to watch the trends of the world & to nurture in the youth who carry the future world on their shoulders a right sense of values.
