Continuing from my yesterday’s post of Kai Kodutha deivam the DVD which had 2 movies the next one was Murdan Muthu which many do not know as the movie released on same day/ a day just before 100th movie of NT released.

Before Murdan muthu, 98 movies were released for Shivaji. Navarathri and Muradan Muthu were ready to be released at the same time. B.R.Bandhulu (producer & director of Muradan Muthu) insisted that his movie should be announced as 'Shivaji's 100th Movie'. But everyone refused. Because 'Navarathri' is a milestone for Shivaji, with nine different roles in the same film, and it would be fit to be the 100th film

So, Muradan Muthu was released one day earlier to Navarathri, and Muradan Muthu was technically the 99th movie of Shivaji.

That’s why Bandhulu got angry and gave full page advertisement for his next movie 'Ayirathil Oruvan' with MGR. The advertisement was released in 'Dhinathanthi' on the same day, in which Muradan Muthu was released.
My father said it was a last movie in combo of NT & BR Panthalu


Story wise it was a Bengali movie adaptation of Manu Na Manaa( Bengali), Screenplay, Dialouges :Ms Solamalai. Music was done by D.G.Lingappa Songs are good to hear



The movie running time is 2.45 minutes where first half is totally dominated by NT as against Kai Kodutha Deviam which had equal footage. NT is introduced in the opening scenes where he appears in puli vesham . NT appears as a typical naatan type, do gooder villager who is a ruffian, innocent who is mistaken by most of villagers

NT brother I suppose is BR Panthalu has acted very well. Somewhere read in a book where BR panthalu was a drama actor and the drama was once stopped when it was screened before the king ; reason the queen stood up when curtains raised as BR Panthalu’s acting, makeup resembled the king.

A man of such acting stature shouldered a heavy role of NT’s brother & as a person who does God’s statues. His affection towards brother might be inspiration for many actors ( brothers who have a positive attitude)


Rajamma who plays the character of NT’s sister in law is as usual good especially in scenes where she showcases her affection on NT when he quarrels with his brother, genuinely concerned about NT ‘s future, displaying anger when NT quarrels when she does not give him10 RS and gives her daughter’s bangles stand as a testimony for her acting


Next it is Baby Shakila, The affection shown by Baby Shakila on her chithappaa Shivaji will be a poetic touch. But the sad thing, she died due to the fearness she got by seeing the very big statue of Hanuman


Devika:

Fondly referred as Anni by many NT fans but believe me I find it difficult in recognizing Devika in NT movies something I try try & tried but fail always this time too I confused Devika with Chandrakantha. Devika as suitor for NT , loving him in spite of her mother’s dislike towards NT , helplessness when NT asks her to marry Ashokan , she has done her part well

Comedy Duo Nagesh & VKR is good compared to Vasantha Maligai

Ashokan & prem Nazir as Zamindars make their appearances in second half and makes an impression

CK Saraswathi as usual is villy who evokes vengeance & gets viewers shaabam as usual

It is a casting coup of all sorts as it had many stalwarts apart from NT

Having said all this lets move on to the story

It is about a village simpleton Muthu alias Kalimuthu referred as Muradan Muthu who lives with his brother’s family & sister(BR Panthalu, Baby Shakila, Rajamma & Chandrakantha). Enter CK Saraswathy & Devika which causes confusion as Devika loves NT which is not liked by CK Saraswathy. Adding to misery is fraud VKR who unsurps all money from innocent villagers which is blocked by NT many times though NT is ably supported by Nagesh(relative of VKR)

Circumstances force NT & chandrakantha to movie out from brother’s family and they land up in distant relative’s house the village is governed by Zamindar Ashokan whose brother loves Chandrakantha .

Can Sivaji conduct this wedding, what happened to Devika, did brothers unite

Sad the movie flopped it was definitely worth to watch
