There are quite a few formula scenes when we look at Tamizh Films be it is old or new.

One such scene is Arrival of Police in the last scene. Police will not be seen along with the storyline to help the hero....But in the Climax...The incapable police will appear and take the already captured.

I remember one such scene !

Not only in Tamil movies, mostly all Indian movies were like this, including the "Great" SHOLAY (except few malayalam or bengali movies).

But in NT's Bond movies Thangasurangam and Raja, NO police will enter with a shout 'hands up' after the climax fight over. In Raja already three police officers (Raja, Prasad, Pattabi) involved in climax fight.

But in Vaira Nenjam, Sreedhar did this mistake.

Naam Pirantha Mann
Dear hubbers ,

I am going to write about Naam Pirantha Mann another rare movie of NT . The movie is still not made available in DVD but I managed to catch it up somehow .
For the benefit of persons who have not watched the movie I will give a gist of the movie.
Story:

The movie takes us back to pre independence era where we are introduced to a pair of powerful eyes & britishers searching for a person Santhanadevan.
British Government is on a hunt for a man called Santhana Devan who is a big headache for them and is one among the pioneer in leading the freedom movement.
Cut to the next scene we see NT as a pannaiyar leading a happy life with his wife KR Vijaya, sister & servant Nagesh. NT roams in the night for hunting the hunting is nothing but freedom movement. Yes NT is Santhanadevan( remember Vithadu KAruppu Serial or Kodi Parakuthu Thalaivar Rajini).
In a strange encounter NT comes across Gemini Ganesan who intends to join his team. NT (Santhanadevan ) keeps him. But back home NT is his master(Pannaiyar). He has a small kid
NT &GG decides to murder a british official in the process , a young lad dies. NT & GG’s mother becomes emotionally attached .
KR Vijaya helps britisher’s officer ‘s son to recover from chicken pox.
The Govt. becomes keen in arresting Devan in the process GG lands in prison in an attempt to save Devan. British officials kills NT’s sister on knowing Devan & Pannaiyar are same person. NT avenges the death of his sister and is arrested by the police. He performs last rites for GG’s mother who dies. The Army General & NT on their way to prison accidentally lans in midst of small mountains together they come out of it & NT lands in prison. When NT is about to be hanged India gets independence hence NT is freed but all his wealth is lost by now & he becomes a pauper.
NT now lives in small house with his wife and his son (Kamal Hasan). Kamal Hasan is vexed as he does not find a job & also pained by looking at the plight of his family. Even Thyagi’s pension is rejected as a politician insults Kamal.
Kamal finds a job in arrack shop only for NT quarrel with the owner & Kamal loses the job. Nagesh also rejoins NT as his loyal servant.
NT finds a deaf& dumb Gemini Ganesan at a function & takes him to his house. Kamal finds a job & they buy back their palace & slowly regains their property . The police are for a hunt looking for Kamal as he is a smuggler. NT decides to kill his son . Both father & son fight with each other when NT shoots his son KR Vijaya saves her son , in the process get killed. NT too dies at the end.

The movie released in 1977 after comeback movie of NT Deepam. It was a dream come true for a young artist like Kamal as he acted with all his favourite actors NT, GG, KR Vijaya & Nagesh.
NT breathed fire in the role of Santhana Devan freedom fighter. It was a cakewalk for him as he is a true patriot and also acted in many such movies earlier like VPKB, Rajapart, Kappal Ottiya Tamilan. His mannerisms as jovial Pannaiyar teasing his wife is too authentic.
In the next half it is like Devar Magan get up even get up, confrontation scenes, dialogues. NT even imitates Kamarajar (in a nice way, At the end of the scene We can see NT & Kamarajar photo in same frame)
GG- we have seen NT & GG combination movies previously may be this was a last one. GG acted with elan in this movie particularly as an old man who gives his heart & soul for freedom
Kamal was also good but definitely not on par with later movies
The only other movie of NT that VVSundaram directed other than Gouravam was Naam Pirantha Mann but here he had to share the credits with Vincent, the cameraman. As you must be aware Gouravam was produced by Hindu Rangarajan and Naam Pirantha Mann was also produced by him.
The movie might not be a hit those days but it was a blockbuster when the movie was remade as Indian by Shankar . Irony is that Kamal acted in the same movie when he did some 20 years back
A very rare movie close to reality

Mr. Ragulram sir,

Nice coverage of the rare movie "Naam Pirndha Mann". I am always in the side of fans who are talking, discussing, pouring light for this kind of rare movies.

I never heared any song, or watched any telecast of any songs of this movie.

Actually 'Chandana Thevan" is a real charector and a freedom fighter who lived in Chengalpattu area. But history did not give much importance for his sacrifice.

ராகுல், இந்த இளம்வயதில் நடிகர் திலகத்தின் அதுவும் அவரின் அரிதான படங்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து ஆய்வு செய்யும் உங்களை எவ்வளவு பாராட்டினாலும் தகும்.

தலைவரின் ஆர்ப்பாட்டமான நடிப்பில் தேசபக்தி ஊட்டும் பாடல் 'நாம் பிறந்த மண்'ணிலிருந்து.

இந்தப் பாடலின் துவக்கத்தில் கமலிடம் தலைவர் சொல்லும் வசனம்.

ஆச்சர்யமாக இல்லை? 'நாம் பிறந்த மண்' படத்திலேயும் கமல் 'தேவர் மகன்'தான்.
'தேவர் மகனி' லும் 'தேவர் மகன்' தான்.

என்ன ஒரு பொருத்தம்! God is great. அப்போதே தீர்மானமாகி விட்டது போல் இல்லை!
