I think Myskin's strength lies in his visuals. maththapadi acting, dialogs ellaam total tackiness, choicela vitturanum.
aana, if there's a contemporary filmmaker who knows his visual grammar, it's gotta be him. It's either the way he visualizes his storytelling or the DOP's talent, I don't know where the credit should go. The way the scenes are planned and laid out, entry, scene, exit - romba interestinga pOgum. Take anjaadhey's opening shot for eg. (I know this might've been discussed a lot already, irundhaalum, it's one of my favorite 'film openings'): We see the blue sky for a few seconds; then we realize that there's movement; we (I) move along eagerly not knowing where it takes us (me); slides below a parallel bar where a guy is seen exercising; cut to vaaikka thagararu. And the famous/infamous 'legs' shot - arresting, i say!
nandhala too had some beautiful imagery. silapala idangal sollalaam. YS, again, was fine. CP was a borefest.
Nambikkai irukku, aana nextu suferkero padam, lighta bayam.
