Murali-sar, you won me over again with the superb review(s). I have a soft spot for this film, and had always wanted to review it and promote to others. Unfortunately the VCD copy I have is in poor condition, making it a difficult viewing experience. I would lump this and Ponunjal as those small films that has strong NT performance.

I especially love NT's banter with VKR, especially when confronting MNN, hillarious! Both NT and VKR really has special chemistry here. It is really a beautiful film and too bad, it didn't do as well as it should.

Thanks again, Murali-sar. I need to hunt for a better copy of this film and show it to the newest addition in my circle of NT fans: my wife.

1985-86ம் ஆண்டுவாக்கில் பெங்களூர் கினோ தியேட்டரில் ஒரு மறுவெளியீட்டில் பார்த்தது.எனக்கு 10 வயதிருக்கும்.ஒரே ஆரவாரம்,சில்லரை காசு வீச்சு.என் தந்தைக்கு தெரியாமல் காலுக்கு கீழே கிடந்த சில்லரைகளை பொறுக்கி அரைக்கால் சட்டை பாக்கெட்டில் போட்டு கொன்டதும்,வீட்டுக்கு வந்தவுடன் உப்பியிருந்த பாக்கெட்டை பார்த்து அது என்ன என்று அவர் கேட்டதும்,பயந்து கொன்டே நான் விஷயத்தை சொன்னதும்,அவர் என்னை கடிந்துகொன்டு இனி எப்போதும் இதுபோல் செய்யகூடாது என சொல்லி அந்த காசையெல்லாம் எங்கள் வீட்டு பக்கத்தில் இருந்த கோவில் உண்டியலில் போட வைத்ததையும் ஒரு மலரும் நினைவாக எண்ணிப்பார்க்கவைத்த முரளிசாருக்கு நன்றி

Chinni Jayanth in Jackpot yesterday - a program I never watch but did yesterday because I just found CJ talking about NT as I was channel-hopping - talked about how he spent the 10-15 years of NT with him - was quite surprising as have never heard of his association with NT.

Apparently, NT used to call CJ often on weekends to amuse him with his antics(mimicry etc).
CJ even performed a mutiliation mono-act of the Dharumi sequence(which he had performed for NT when a Mumbai delegation was visiting NT's house) - it was meh but his words on NT and his place in TF history were quite moving and one could see the pride he felt in having been associated thus with the legend

That kind of energy reminded me of Rajini's in films like Mullum Malarum or Tappu Talanggal.

Something was telling me that you would respond for this movie and you didn't disappoint me. Good to hear that you like this movie and would wait to hear from you regarding the review.

Good to hear that Chinni talked about NT in glowing terms as it is very rare for anybody from the artist side talking about NT. I think Chinni acted with NT in Chinna Marumagal and the association must have started there. I have also read that Chinni wielded the megaphone for a movie called வாய் ஜாலம் produced by Sivaji Productions but never sure, whether that movie got released.

CJ and Prabhhu are very close friends. One reason why Prabhu went as far as to produce a movie supposedly directed by CJ ( there was one movie early on with Revathi that bombed heavily). I forgot the movie name, but it was heavily advertised in one of the India - Australia test matches in chepauk...

நமது நடிகர் திலகம் திரியின் பல பார்வையாளர்களில் ஒருவரான 'கணபதி', முரளி சார் எழுதிய "லட்சுமி கல்யாணம்" திரைக்காவியத் திறனாய்வை படித்து முடித்த பின், தனது நெருங்கிய நண்பரான 'ஸ்ரீதர்' என்பவரைக் சந்திக்கச் செல்கிறார். ஸ்ரீதரும் நமது திரியின் ஒரு பார்வையாளர். ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமைகளில் அவர்கள் இருவரும், ஒரு பூங்காவில் சந்தித்து உரையாடுவது வழக்கம். அன்று 2.1.2011 ஞாயிறாதலால் வழக்கம் போல் சந்திக்கின்றனர். ஆங்கிலப் புத்தாண்டு பிறந்து, ஸ்ரீதர் இன்னும் திரிக்குச் செல்லவில்லை. இப்படியிருக்க இருவரும் மாலை நேரம் பூங்காவில் சந்தித்து அளவளாவுகிறார்கள். (ஒரு கற்பனை தான் !):

கணபதி : "Happy New Year Sridhar !"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "Same to you Ganapathy"

கணபதி : "மார்கழி மாசத்துல கல்யாணம் நடந்திருக்கு பாத்தியா ?!"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "எங்கப்பா ? யாருக்கு?"

கணபதி : "நமது நடிகர் திலகம் திரியில தான், முரளி சார் கைங்கர்யத்துல - அதாவது கைவண்ணத்துல - "லட்சுமி கல்யாணம்" நடந்துருக்கு"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "அப்படியா...இப்ப புரியுது. நம்ப முரளி சார் "லட்சுமி கல்யாணம்" படத்தோட திறனாய்வ எழுதியிருக்கார். என்ன கரெக்டா...?"

கணபதி : "ஆமா...என்னப்பா நீ படிக்கல அத..."

ஸ்ரீதர் : "இல்ல கணபதி, நான் இன்னும் படிக்கல. நான் திரிக்கு போயி இரண்டு நாளாச்சு. 30ஆம் தேதி(30.12.2010), பம்மலார் பதிவிட்ட சிவாஜி-பந்துலு சம்பந்தப்பட்ட கேள்வி-பதில் வரைக்கும் பாத்தேன். அப்ப திரி 66ஆம் பக்கத்தில் இருந்தது. அதுக்கப்புறம் நான் திரிக்குப் போகல."

கணபதி : "67ஆம் பக்கம்லாம் முடிஞ்சு இன்னிக்கி 68ஆம் பக்கம் வந்தாச்சு !"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "ஆஹா...! அப்ப 68ஆம் வருஷப் படம் 68வது பக்கத்துல... என்ன ஒரு coincidence !"

கணபதி : "ஆமாம் ஸ்ரீதர், கரெக்ட் தான், 68வது பக்கத்துல அதனுடைய தொடர்ச்சி வந்திருக்கு"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "இதுக்கு முன்னாடி 49வது பக்கத்துல 49வது படமான "அன்னையின் ஆணை"யோட ஆரம்பப் பதிவு வந்துது. ஞாபகமிருக்கா... இப்ப 68ல வந்த படம் 68ஆம் பக்கத்துல தொடர்ந்திருக்கு... கரெக்டா?"

கணபதி : "Yes, Your Honour"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "சரிப்பா..."லட்சுமி கல்யாணம்" எப்படியிருக்கு"

கணபதி : "சூப்பரோ சூப்பர்"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "அது சரி, முரளி சார் எழுதுறதுக்கு கேக்கணுமா? முரளி சார், சாரதா மேடம் - இவங்க ஒரு படத்த பத்தி எழுதினாங்கன்னா, அந்தப் படத்தோட, படம் சம்பந்தப்ப்பட்ட எல்லா விஷயங்களுமே தெரிய வரும். சரி தானே...!"

கணபதி : "ரொம்ப சரி! என்ன பொறுத்த வரைக்கும் இவங்க இரண்டு பேரோட writing style எப்படின்னா, முரளி சார் Software மாதிரி! சாரதா மேடம் Hardware மாதிரி!"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "ரொம்ப கரெக்ட் கணபதி, அதாவது முரளி சார் கவாஸ்கர், டிராவிட் மாதிரி, மேடம் வந்து ஸ்ரீகாந்த், சேவாக் மாதிரி"

கணபதி : "Yes, அப்படியும் சொல்லலாம்"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "சரி, அப்புறம்"

கணபதி : "வழக்கம் போல மூன்று பதிவுகள்ள ரொம்ப அழகா குடுத்திருக்காரு. முதல் பதிவுல படத்தோட கதை வருது. என்ன பொறுத்த வரைக்கும் "லட்சுமி கல்யாணம்" கதை கொஞ்சம் கொழப்பமான கதை தான். ஆனா அதையும் நம்ப முரளி சார் தெளிவா எழுதியிருக்காரு."

ஸ்ரீதர் : "அப்ப முரளி சார்ங்குற எழுத்தாளர்குள்ள ஒரு கதாசிரியரும் இருக்கார்னு சொல்லு"

கணபதி : "நிச்சயமா...அப்புறம் இரண்டாவது பதிவுல எல்லாரோட நடிப்ப பத்தியும் நடுநிலையோட எழுதியிருக்காரு. நடிகர் திலகத்தோட நடிப்ப பத்தி காட்சிக்கு காட்சி, கட்டத்துக்கு கட்டம் எழுதியிருக்காரு பாரு, அத திருப்பி திருப்பி ஸ்லோகம் மாதிரி படிச்சுகிட்டே இருக்கலாம் போலருக்கு. மூன்றாவது பதிவுல Songsஅ பத்தியும், படத்தோட சாதனைகள் பத்தியும் புட்டு புட்டு வச்சுருக்காரு. அதுல பொடி வெச்சு கொஞ்சம் கார நெடியும் அடிக்க வைச்சிருக்காரு. அதாவது உன் பாஷையில கவாஸ்கர் ஸ்ரீகாந்தா ஆடிருக்காரு"

ஸ்ரீதர் : "நீ என் ஆவல தூண்டி விட்டுட்ட, அப்புறம்...நான் வீட்டுக்கு கிளம்புறேன், போயிட்டு கம்ப்யூட்டர ஆன் பண்ணி நம்ப திரிய பாத்து "லட்சுமி கல்யாணம்" படத்தோட பதிவுகள, responseகள படிச்சுட்டு தான் மறு ஜோலி! வரேன்பா, Bye !"

what a review about Lakshmi kalyanam.FANTABULOUS

NT,Sowkar, Major all performed exceptionally well.
Special mention about Nirmala who played that character very nicely between these stalwarts
