Pootha Malligai Kaathu Nikkuthu - Which movie?
Dear members,
I have seen the song "Pootha Malligai Kaathu Nikkuthu" from the movie "Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru" starring Ramarajan (debut?) and Rekha.
However I see the same song with the same tune mentioned as from the film "Echil Iravugal" in may other places. Is is true that the same song appeared in 2 different movie? I have not seen Echil Iravugal.
Also was the music for the movie "Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru" composed by IR or GA? Remember being mentioned as "GA" in the movie titles (Not sure though!)

Hey yeah,...! Good catch...! Till I read this post, I was thinking it was IR..! But something was not right with the construction of the song. I always thought it didn't have the IR feel. The song by itself is really good and GA surely deserves the credit.
'Ponni Nadhi' song from Mudhal Vasandham is another which to me, somehow doesn't have the IR feel, thought it is IR.
Pootha Malligai video from Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru -
MD - GA.. confirmed...http://tamilkey.org/namma-ooru-nalla-ooru-1986-dvd.html
Info in the Internet can be funny...according to this web site, Echil Iravugal was released in 1900..! http://www.thenisai.com/tamil/movies...mil-movies.htm

Thanks Sir for the reply.
But there seems to be a "Pootha Malligai" song in Echil Iravugal also. Hence the confusion. It will be nice if someone who has seen the movie can come up with the truth.

The song in echchil iravugaL is 'பூத்து நிக்குது காடு பாத்து நிக்குது ஆடு' which has nothing to do with 'பூத்த மல்லிகை காத்து நிக்குது தன்னாலே'!
They both are two different songs from different movies!

Thanks for that piece of info.
Maybe the similarity in the opening lyrics of the 2 songs has led to this confusion. Now it is clear.
