    Movie of the Week - சபாபதி 1941

    Movie of the Week

This topic is to discuss about a particular movie every week. I know there are multi threads but it's restricted to either actor/director. Here i want to discuss all kind of movies, direction, songs etc

    To start with

    Sabash Meena(1958).
Padmini Pictures Sabash meena had Nadigar Thilagam, Malini, SArojadevi,Chandrababu, Kuladeiva rajagopal, M.R.Santhanam, S.V.Rangarao and others.

    Music by T.G.Lingappa
Produced & Directed by B.R.Panthulu himself.

Sabash meena is one of the best full length tamil comedy film ever made.
Shivaji is a fun loving youth who passes time in drama etc while his father wants him to take up the responsibilty but he is not interested. His father is worried and by this time his friend S.V.Rangarao also insists on his daughter(Sarojadevi)'s marriage with NT. So NT's father sends him to SVR and asks him to work in SVR's company as MD. Saddened Shivaji comes up with a plan. He swaps his identity with his best friend Chandrababu and the consequences lead to more fun.

T.G.Lingappa came up with stunning tunes.
Chithiram pesudhadi (2 versions , one by TMS & other by Soolamangalam rajalakshmi)
KAana inbam kanindhatheno by T.A.Moti & P.Susheela. Beautiful song and wonderful picturization.
Stage play by Sarojadevi & Chandrababu is fun to watch.

On the whole Sabash meena was a great entertainer and even today people copy this same story
and claim to be a new story with minor adjustments but this remains to be one of the best enjoyed movie.

Here is the online link to watch & enjoy this fun movie.
