Yes, param it was 'parrot, parrot' (i.e. கிளியே கிளியே) and not 'tear, tear' (கிழியே,கிழியே)

What KJY sang sounded like 'parrot, parrot' to Malayalees.

However, it sounded 'fear, fear' (கிலியே,கிலியே) to Thamizh people

ok, before someone comes and asks me whether கிலி is a Thamizh word, here is a proverb :

    புலி அடிக்கு முன்னே கிலி அடிக்கும்
(Fear will kill one, much before the tiger actually kills)

    கிழியே is not a proper use, you're right...it can be கிழியேன், கிழியேன்

    That was Param's confusion, Plum

kiLi (parrot) is intended and KJY did right according to Malayalees. Per Tamils, he softened it to 'kiliye' and was fearful.

(The tearing apart was Param's and not mine, no need for kizhi here)

    App,

KJY's first song for MGR was "Thangathoniyile" in USV but technically speaking KJY had sung in a MGR movie way back in 1966. The movie was Parakkum Paavai in which he sang சுகம் எதிலே இதயத்திலா along with TMS and LRE [a very rare combo song] and his playback was for Chandrababu [again a rare occasion].

    Regards
