NOV in the Avan Ivan thread has a poll which allows one to choose multiple options. If App had made a similar poll, I would have voted for 9/10. Not a fan of his mimicry stuff.
Great songs everyone, please keep them coming.

பருவ காலங்களின் கனவு
(மூடுபனியில் ஜானகியுடன்)
Relatively short song but quite an unusual one IMO. While 'en iniya pon nilAvE' is so well-known to the current gen, this one may not be that familiar.
A personal favourite Consider this as part of the "western" category
thiraippadal link for MV that lists some 540 songs. There can be some minor errors here and there but such should be negligible.
Almost 95% are IR numbers. There may be other web resources that contain his songs from other MDs, especially Shankar Ganesh with whom he has worked for many numbers.
The MV-SG combo's 'nadaiya mAththu' (kannipparuvaththilE) was such a big hit at the time of arrival. The same movie had the 'pattu vaNNa rOsAvAm' which was heard in all patti-thotti of TN and popularity levels were greater than of IR songs of the exactly same period.

No confusion, this Rajendran is same as TR Included AA Raj simply to be historically correct as this was the way it was advertised on posters and otherwise at the time of the movie's arrival. The lyrics were by TR and possibly the melody but the orchestra used was AA Raj's and he could have had inputs in the arrangements.
A very catchy number in an album that was a smash hit across the state. It was especially loved by students!

One of the Versatile singers in TFM, after SPB and TMS ! Though he had "littile" TMS within him
My Fav MV songs are (Not in any particular oreder)
1) Aagaya Gangai
2) Puthuvaga enamanus thangam - Every time I hear this, I wanna get up and dance, cant sit still when one hears this song !
3) Koyil mani osai ingu keatatharO
4) E kuruvi chittu kuruvi
A versatile singer indeed
Om Namaste astu Bhagavan Vishveshvaraya Mahadevaya Triambakaya Tripurantakaya Trikalagni kalaya kalagnirudraya Neelakanthaya Mrutyunjayaya Sarveshvaraya Sadashivaya Shriman Mahadevaya Namah Om Namah Shivaye Om Om Namah Shivaye Om Om Namah Shivaye
What a class rendition! MV sir and this song is inseparable. As the first youtube comment rightly says, this song is beyond all recognitions and awards.
Enna sugamaana ulagam - Garjjanai
Not embedding the video to avoid cluttering the page with youtubes but video is mildly amusing. Rajini and Madhavi go on a trip in the streets of Chennai on a bed. Yeah, your read that right. Have not seen the film. High budget sci-fi made in 4 languages. Colossal flop I think.
Anyway the song has MV and IR in supreme form. Very very modern song, way ahead of its times.
Crap movie. Wonder what Kamal would have done with the same scene...(Nettu first half of Alavandhan parta effect-u), probably IR would have changed the melody (Mendum mendum vaa, jumcha jumcha jumcha).
My contribution (Nan clutter pannuven):
" நல்ல படம் , சுமாரான படம் என்பதையெல்லாம் தாண்டியவர் நடிகர் திலகம் . சிவாஜி படம் தோற்கலாம் ..சிவாஜி தோற்பதில்லை." - Joe Milton.
From wife dedicated to all Rajini fans (her favourites already listed, baakki ithu kedachathu, and its not bad in book):

Only two facts about this movie are possibly in the memory of those who followed TFM during the movie's time period...one : first movie to have music by MV where he played nice, using his contemporary singers. two : it had the enigmatic Shobha
