Since this topic is on discussion here now, i would like to clear somethings with IR fans. What is it, that u guys keep saying A.R.Rahman is not good enough. I mean seriously, come on! He has given many many strong melodies, given good clean mass songs, good religious numbers, etc etc. When in 90s, many IR fans said " ARR songs wont be last longing. U wont be able to hear them 10 years later." Its been 20 years now, and just play Pudhu Velllai Malai from Roja, or Kannaku Mai Azhagu from Pudhiya Mugam and tell me, doesnt that melody still make ur eyes close and feel its quality? Or take "THee THee" and "Konjum Nilave" from Thiruda Thiruda, and tell me, its a pakka fast paced song, doesnt it still make u want to move along with it? ARR is never lower to IR anyday. If IR is superior to ARR, then ARR entrance into to TFM wouldnt be a huge success. Why didnt IR gave songs like Roja in 1992? Avaraley mudiyathethe thaaney? Even until now, i dont think IR could compose modern yet melodious songs like ARR.

Actually, it doesn't matter whether IR fans acknowledge ARR's achievement or not. Thevaiye illa.

I believe any ARR fan would understand my feelings. We have been living with it for the last 20 years and we may continue to live with it, god knows till when. For any unwarranted digs, ARR has replied in the best of ways known to him - climbing yet another step. I don't care about the lame and foolish remarks on ARR's achievements but I wanted to bring that to the notice of fellow hubbers here. That's why I posted it in the relevant thread. If Srinivas is not considered to be a qualified person to comment on IR, then similarly I would not consider IR to be qualified enough to comment on ARR.

I personally never jumped with anger, looking at srinivas' comment, instead i just laughed out loud! wrt the Non ARR part.

Danny Boyle loves AR Rahman's simplicity

British director Danny Boyle, who worked with AR Rahman in two of his movies, calls the Indian composer a "genius" and says he loves the fact that the musician is so simple despite his "extraordinary fame".

"Rahman is something of a genius. But he's also very simple and I love that quality about him. He's straightforward despite his almost extraordinary, supernatural fame! I feel extremely lucky to have worked with him twice," Boyle said on BIG CBS PRIME's "India's Prime Icon".

Rahman created music for Boyle's 2008 Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire, which also won the musician two golden statuettes.

Following its success, Rahman composed for the director's 127 Hours, for which he got two nominations for the Academy Awards.

The composer, also known as Mozart of Madras, has given Bollywood some of its most memorable melodies, including Taal se taal mila and Dil se re.

Rahman will feature on "India's Prime Icon", which shows works of popular icons of the country from different walks of life.
