Tried to locate the original video of 'thOgai' - could not find in youtube
Still, a worthy search, as someone has placed a few scenes with sweet BGM from this movie here :
(Interesting to see a "feeling-less" Gounder in one of the scenes, also the foto of IR / his brothers and their ambassador car in GA's office)
This link has the video, poor kwality :

Yesterday, I happened to watch parts of "Oru Kaidhiyin Diary" on Jaya TV....most of the suspense scenes have a terrific theme music...very grand, embellished with trumpets and superb bass. Scenes like the one where the son-Kamal organizes security around the church hoping that the father-Kamal will try and get in touch with the church father...the BGM is very rich.
Of course, "Pon Maane" has really good interludes as well...always liked it.
PS: I tried searching for BGM bits, but couldn't find the suspense theme.

Yes "pon maane" depicts that rain and shine mood so aptly in the interludes, the first interlude blowing hot with trumpets and the second one is psychedelic , after the chorus portion with piano bells and violins joining gives hair raising experience . WCM experts can analyze better even though the main melody is Shivaranjini.
The last Raja song I chew on is "Ponnoviyam" from "Kazhugu" . Sheer aural delight with choral harmony parts , guitar , Raja and Janaki

There was some confusion going on in twitter. Seems Yuvan had tweeted saying that he was composing a Hindi song for a Tamil film, the first of its kind. One knowledgeable person tweeted back to Yuvan that his father had already composed a Hindi song in 'Nandu'. This led me to hearing the beauty that is "Kaise kahoon" from Nandu.

( It was also pointed out that MSV has done a full Hindi song in 'Varumayin Niram Sigappu' and people felt that this song sounded as if done by a North Indian MD rather than by MSV. In 'kaise kahoon' Raja stamp is unmistakeable.)

We watched this movie a few times in singAraththOp area (in a non-A/C pAdAvathi theater where it ran for 100+ days, may be even veLLi vizhA) and each had a 45 minute return trip to hostel by city-bus, and we typically had a loud discussion around the movie.
My room-mate was so irritated by Poornima's dance in this song He was also an emmesvee admirer and we had tons of arguments during college days as to who was the besttu. Even within a few months into the course, a group of us found out that he has a taste for arguing (for anything and everything) and found sadistic pleasure in triggering him
thOgai was one opportunity to trigger him with questions such as -
-she's in love and so should she care about grammar of Bharatham?
-isn't Poornima a trained classical dancer?
-aren't all movie dances watered-down versions of bharatham, does any exist that's a perfect art?
I can remember his emotional outbursts with animated talking, answering such silly triggers elaborately, talking on-and-on-and-on

Speaking of Bharatnatyam in tamil movies, I've always thought...eventhough Sri Priya has done a decent job in this video, if the song was given it to either Shobana or Amala they'd have done a wonderful job...oru aadhangam...
