Mokkai story, um impressive actors, director taking not great effort, only songs make some, mostly pretty ordinary situations as believable, impactful. Great song/tune makes even ordinary situation as very strong, impactful, believable. When we listen to some songs from movie we know nothing about, we assume great performance would have backed the song, but in reality, is simply wasted. Of course, there are many songs which are made good/deserving use of. Both the video and song complement each other and it becomes timeless and stands out for ever.
Sometimes, even idle actors are forced to emote becos the song is full of emotion, and a stone-face will spoil the song, and they fight to bring that emotion.

Guys. I was sarcastic in only some of the posts in tamil films section. But here absolutely sincere. I am great admirer of Raja. If you guys still want to ignore me then I am fine with that too.

Nilaa Kaayum Neram Saranam from Sembaruthi is an amazing song. Get a feeling of going to a different world which is more peaceful than where we live.

Jai,
I am actually thinking of a slightly later age, from '94 to '00. Let us see if I can analyze many songs in this era and form some opinion before I post here. But looks a #tuffmatch

Suresh ji ,
I think you should start a thread soon ..90s is one decade where Raaja has experimented a lot and given varied types of music and unfortunately it has been missed by many a Raaja fan.
I think it would be great if we have a thread exclusively discussing the 90s music of Maestro .. Start Meesik.

sure it does - but it should be a delightful journey.
