V_S, count me in on taking bowls of therattuppal and never get tired of it :P As usual, a picturesque description that helps appreciate the song at another level.

venkkiram, cool two picks! Listening to them, for a moment, I forgot the theruttupal urge itself..

    V_S,

Lovely song that. Infact that song sound more 'Malayalam' than most of other Raja's Malayalam songs. The pallavi has a touch of Salilda. This movie also had another nice song 'arike arike'.

    Venki,

Two lovely picks. The first one, 'gangai aatril' always reminds me of 'unni aaraariro' which A T Ummer tuned for 'Avalude Raavugal'. The beginning seems to have some similarities. Later it develops as a pure Raja song. The 'thennan keetrum' song is a favorite of mine. Mayamalavagowla, which is anyway Raja's 'soththu'. I have an Oriental CD which has songs with 'thendral' in the pallavi. Whoever did the selection is truly a connoisseur for sure.

A really nice divine number rendered by Maestro in Hamsadhwani Ragam 'Anandha Kanden' from the Kannada Devotional album Honnina Therinali.
Dedicating this song to our Suresh who is celebrating his B'day today.
Wishing you a very Happy B'day

Its definitely an IR Song , thats for sure. From the orchestration ,im guessing it should have come around the period 79-81
wow! wow! . What a rollercoaster tune and sparkling orchestration! I'm almost 99.99% sure this one's by IR... can't think of another composer who can throw in these many aspects in such 'precise' proportions! That's where is the unimitable Raaja stamp in this song. Like Suresh had said earlier today, MMG is one of Raaja's forte... and he's quite easily is the Raaja in this fort!
The male voice in the humming sounds like Ramesh (http://www.thiraipaadal.com/singer.p...Ramesh&lang=en) to me.
