Wahlberg-Baldwin interactions
I think it more than holds candle to the original.

Have you seen the sequels? Onnu parten not sure which one, during a bus ride with fellow Chinese journalists guffawing and squirming in their seats.

Beautiful movie.

When confronted by his father, the older boy bursting out that his brother shot the bus also adds in that he sees his sister bathing.
It is one baffling moment. That it is two 'crimes' floating on the top of his head that he weighs to be of comparable importance to 'report' is just fantastic. It is always simmering and the child has nearly no absorption of the relative gravity of one situation and absurdity of coupling the two together.
And this is a reporting a violation of an inherited social more. i.e. thus making the blaming of his brother more appealing to the father. It is strongly suggested that he is moved more by jealousy than by subscription to the more. Brilliant
Except the parts of the sappAn girl story, all stories felt very 'real' and was very well fleshed out. The reluctance of the American kids to go play with others, their easy mingling and joy, the horror of the American kid when Bernal beheads the chicken..all shown in a nonfussy 'this is a different world, that's all' manner.
In the later parts it dragged it too long, losing the tension that kept each of the story till then. Highly excusable.

And you are right about Wahlberg. Not special mention, I thought he was fantastic.

Three Ages (1923).
Not Buster Keaton's best, but some signs of genius shows. Apparently his first directed feature. And there was a stop motion dinosaur in it. Check panni parten, first beast creature on stop motion and live mix was Lost World (1925) and King Kong would come 8 years later. So here it must be the first
Next on the 2-in-1 DVD: Sherlock Jr, been waiting for ages to watch it.
Edit, after five minutes: Crap, I was wrong. They did it earlier

"Tangled"
Too many songs, none of which had the effect of say Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast.
Interestingly a villainous character with gray shades.
Maximus was a welcome diversion
