    Hi TFM Lover,

I thik I did not put my thoghts succinctly about the makeover from Tamil to Hindi films. My point was that when Hindi films were re-made in Tamil, especially with genius MSV given the MD's baton, he had risen to the challenge exceedingly well on more than 80 per cent of the occasions. There are examples of this happening with films like Phool aur Pathar (Olui Vilakku), Brahmchari (Enga Mama), China Town (Kudiyirundha Koil, in fact was a super duper musical hit) etc come to mind readily, though I would not rate Sivagamiyin Selvan's songs on par with original Aradhana. He also did well to match the super hit Yaadon Ki Baraat in Naalai Namathe.

But when Tamil films like Paalum Pazhamum (Saathi), Aalayamaani (Aadmi), Server Sundaram (Main Sunder Hoon), to name a few, were remade in Hindi, the songs were utter flops barring a few. An exception was "Dil Ek Mandir", remake of "Nenjil Ore Alayam" in which Shankar-Jaikishan came very close to matching the incomparable Viswanathan-Ramamurthy duo, according to my opionion.

Even the Hindi version of the super duper Sridhar-AMRaja hit "Kalyana Parisu" did not have the verve of the original as far as songs were concerned. Same was the case with quite a few other films, which I am unable to recall at this time, I suppose.

This is the point I wanted to emphasise but did not come out correctly, my mistake.

ramaswamyji.. I dont know much about hindi-tamil remade songs.

But I feel "chanda o chanda" and "gori o gori" of "lakhon mein ek" which is a remake of "Edhir neechal" were really good.
May be some exemptions like that may be there.

    Hi TFM Lover,

Who is the actress in this Remy ad? Can't place her.

And tks a million for "Mugathil Mugam Paarkalam" and your innovative touch in combining this song and TMS's "manaseega guru" MkT's famous "Manmadha Leelayai vendrar undo". That is in Charukesi, In TFMpage itself in another link it's written that "Mugathil" is based on "Kalyani". Am no expert on ragas, but I would like to know which song is based on which raga.

Here I am going to request for another video, that of "Venmugile konja neram nillu", the pathos-filled song sung so beautifully by P Suseela in "Vikramathithan". S Rajeswara Rao's composition, I think. Do you have it?

    Hi TFM Lover,

Tks for the info. Yes, after posting my comments the thought struck me it's Sowkar Janaki. Anyway when in doubt, cut it out is the wise guy's remark. I followed it.

BTW can't wait to see the videos of the Vikramadithan songs mentioned by you, No TV channel that I have access to shows this particular film's songs. Wonderful if you could upload them but the trick is to keep them alivet on the website as I have seen your previous contributions like Pathibakthi song not available any more for viewing. It's a pity.
