I very fondly remember one evening in 1970, when myself and a whole group of friends from Presidency College arrived at NKT Kala Manadapam in Tiruvallikeni to listen to a concert of A.M. Raja and Jikki. Heavy rain also started along with the concert, and not a single person moved from the uncovered ground before the stage for more than two and a half hours till the concert was finished, eventhough everyone was drenched to the skin. All the surrounding streets were flooded and we waded in hip deep water to go home. No one minded the inconvenience. I was sad when A.M. Raja passed away tragically. The loss of both A.M. Raja and Jikki can never be made up.
