Famous singer JIKKI passes away!
Topic started by SK (@ 199.90.34.67) on Mon Aug 16 11:24:48 EDT 2004.
With profound grief, let me record the sad news of Ms. JIKKI's passing away today after a prolonged battle with cancer. She has sung over 10,000 songs and have been part of that memorable AM RAJA-JIKKI combo for over 3 decades.
"thuLLaadha manamum thuLLum" is still a song green in our memories.
I express my hearty condolences to the bereaved family.
May her soul rest in peace.

One of her last songs in Tamil, Vanna vanna SoL eduthu vanthathu senthamizh paatu was a big hit. Her old songs are a classic. A.M.Raja and Jikki were both great.

"mayakkum maalai pozhudhe nee po po" is an immortal song by jikki.
Also some of her last few songs like
"ninaithadhu yaaro nee thaane"
"naan sirithaal deepavali" with IR are unforgettable.
May her soul rest in peace.

TFM has lost a precious nightingale. I had the privelege of meeting her a few years back, and her humility and innocence was a delightful surprise. May her soul rest in peace.
Here is one cherished classic- immensely popular in its time, one among Jikki's gems from the 50s:
