Great Music Composer S.M. Subbiah Naidu

S.M. Subbiah Naidu, brother of S.M. Sriramulu Naidu, is one of the finest composers of South India. His contribution is invaluable. Not only he is a composer, but also very good conductor, orchestrator, and what not. He is considered as O.P. Nayyar of South India. His tunes will be very very catchy, his songs instant hits. He has made Chandrababu a great singer in the song Kungumappoove konchum puraave. He would leave no stone unturned to bring the best of his singers. Till now, the best of S.Janakia is Singaara Velane Deva which was composed by him. He innovated the concept of voice with Nagaswaram. Let us bring the best of his compositions.

As I said some of the outstanding contributions of SMS begin with Nadodi Mannan. Each and every composition is a gem. Particularly, the song Kadu velanjenna machan, namakku kaiyum kalum thane micham, sung by TMS and P Bhanumathi had become legendary and when MGR assumed office as CM, this song almost became a guideline for his rule. Hi Raghavendra,

Wonderful thread on SMS, the guru of MSV. He deserves it.

Did Thirumanam have two MDs, SMS and TGL? News to me. Anyway the songs in this movie were simply out of this world TMS sung two of his very best solos in this film and they were: Mangiyathor Nilavinile Kanavilithu Kanden (Bharatiyar song) and Ennamellam Ore Idathaye Naaduthe (wonderful composition in the raga Sahana, my personal TFM favourite in this raga).

What abt another great TFM solo, Inbam Yaavume Thunbag Agume Idhuthan Vaazhvin Anubavame? From Thirumanam, isn't it? There was a lovely duet by AMR and Jikki too "Thanga nilavil kendai irandu thulli thirivadundo".

Can anyone give online links to these fantastic songs?

Pirandha Naal Indru Pirandha Naal, the subprabatham of Ceylon Radio, Pudhusu idhu pudhusu from Sabash Thambi,Azhagile Kani rasam, Samaiyalukkum maiyalukkum from Pennai Vaazha Vidungal, Paithiyakkaran pathum solvan, Azhaga irundadhu nethu, Raja veettu pennaanalum from Raja Veettu Pillai, all these were super hits during those days. Thank you for reminding them and as you said there may be a few more films. In fact I would like to bring out the filmography for each music director which am already started with the two websites (i) http://mellisai.tripod.com for Viswanathan-Ramamurthi and (ii) www.freewebs.com/mellisaimannartkr for T.K. Ramamurthi. And heard that Sri Ragapravaham Sundar is bringing out a detailed website on TFM to be launched shortly. All the best for him. Coming to SMS, Asaipattadhu nanalla and Padaithan boomiyai iraivan from Eindhu Latcham is also a hit song, and if I remember correct, Nalum Therindhavan is also by SMS, which contains such hits Nari ondru sirikkindradhu, nilavukke pogalam van nilavukke, etc. He has given a minimum of two to three hits in each of his films.
