i expected it to be a VTV that will detail on events post aaromale i.e more of life story than love story, but Imtiaz stays within his territory of louuuu............though the storyline and sequences give the feel "idhellam payanangal mudivadhillai, salaingai oli-le paathuttom daa", im hoping for Imtiaz to have given something more than that.......but watever be the BO verdict, Rockstar soundtrack is a absolute memoir from thalaivar to savor for yrs to come

As much as I hate the picturization of each song I equally love it and this is
how I feel about the whole movie as well.

Surprisingly, I have seen all Imtiaz Ali and *Ranbir Kapoor films (*Excluding
Anjaana Anjaani and I haven't finished Raajneeti yet). This wasn't my intention
but it just happened by chance. These two have always had good music in most of
their projects, i.e. I still listen to Yara Rab from Socha Na Tha
. My first encounter with Rockstar
(FYI was back in 2006, way before Rock On/London Dreams and all other Bollywood
films featuring the Rock genre started entering the scene) was through a website
called arr4music. (Read: John Abraham as Jordan) – Follow link -
http://www.arr4music.com/details.html#rockstar Sadly as of 2009 the website has
not been updated, this clearly proves that this project has been in the pipeline
for a number of years. Yes Rock On/London Dreams did give rise to my
expectations, I like these albums a lot but to say I love them would be too much
    of an extreme word, hehe.

Over the recent years, articles about this movie were spreading across net, some
stated that Pritam Da has been replaced as the composer by Rahman ji but I
believe that this was false news as Rahman ji was always the initial choice, yes
he might of had date problems and maybe that's the reason behind the movie
getting its due now. I respect Imtiaz for not changing Rahman ji as the Music
Director due to date issues (If there were any?). Some directors change cast and
crew due to lack of time but here Imtiaz was probably sure that he always wanted
Rahman ji for a film like this.

So when this project was final, I was a bit was skeptical about the music being
fully submerged with Rock (Not that I minded). When I first saw the trailer my
expectations for the movie were slightly watered down but thankfully the album
surpassed my expectations and every song still continues to deliver surprises. I
felt the movie has a huge task ahead of it as it can either match the album or
pale in front of it. I didn't know what to expect from this movie from here
onwards and all I knew was I will only watch this movie for my Idol and best
    friend, Rahman ji.

¾ of the movie had gone and I felt just slightly above neutral about the movie.
I only realized the intensity of the movie when Nargis *Spoiler Alert* goes into
treatment. The ending might seem a bit haywire for some. During the movie I
sensed that Imtiaz Ali is somewhat similar to Gautam Vasudevan in terms that
both these directors have nostalgia brought forward from their previous movies.
In all Imtiaz Ali movies, the main couple of his films always have some sort of
a distance or a third person falling in to form a love triangle. It could be
that these two directors are trying to portray a message about their own
    experiences in life.

Ranbir Kapoor has done similar roles in the past in the sense he'll go to any
length to win the heart of his love, but then again that's Indian Cinema for
you. However, here is no question on his talent, skills etc. In this movie I
highly rate him for his comic timing, it's absolutely flawless. Conversely, I
feel Nargis couldn't have debuted in a better movie. No matter how shabby the
script is in certain places the chemistry shown by these two actors certainly
left a solid impact on me.

I conclude that this movie falls the same bracket as other movies where you need
to see it twice to feel the real tone of the film. For now I'm still trying to
recover from the album so I'll try block the picturization otherwise it might
put me off the album. JOKE, I can never be put off this album. After watching
the movie the only song I felt was justified in terms of picturization was Phir
Se Ud Chala but that only 75%.

My verdict as of now is 3.5/5 and doubt it will change.
