2008 was a dull year for Tamil films in respect of finding a new Talent. Among the newbie heroines following are the ones who had been in contest for 2008 Best debut actress.

Abhinaya : One of the heroine on Nadodigal, who could not get his man, but let us see whether she can grab the award

Anuya : She was in Siva manasula Sakthi and in contest for hubbers manasula Anuya

Darshana : debutted in Pinju manasu.

Neetu : Had been at least impressive in the only song of yaavarum Nalam.

Priya Anand : heroine of vaamanan, had been busy shaking heads along with Jai. Let us see whether that is enough for award.

Roopa Manjari : Debutted in Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru and somehow entered here in the poll

Rukkumani : Kanaa Kaangiren Girl, Was very impressive in the song and in the character too..

Who were 'breaths of fresh air' who bestowed on us their presence this year....

Johnny the charismatic hunk debuted in ReNiguNta, this year's notable film in TFI's rising stark genre.

Vishnu Vishal overcame the handicap of a questionable second name, to give an impressive performance in the all-new-hands stunner veNNila kabadi kuzhu

Meenatchi Sundaram's - we shall call him by the name of his role unless evidence to the contrary is provided - performance in Pasanga as the insurance agent with international friends drew a lot of attention

Director Ameer - making his acting debut in Yogi - proved nearly as adept this side of the camera too

Bharat Reddy - the policeman in UPO who was not Ganesh Venkataraman - made a valiant attempt in playing the stern and earnest policeman.

As Adhi's mirugam went unnoticed despite largely due to letting "his face be buried under a dense zareba of hair", the Hub has graciously considered his debutant candidature in the film eeram, where reliable reports say he has acquited himself ably.

So, which vaLarum kalaingar are the Hub's voters - maraNa mass and paNdidhargaL alike - going to encourage.....

Out of six actresses nominated, Manjari, Rukmani & Dharshana failed to capture hubbers' imagination, thereby garnering less than 10% of votes each. It's a three way tie between Anuya, Abhinaya and Neetu Chandra. The winner is...
