Arre kamali kamali from bhoomi geethe.
A song i had overlooked all these days - hits me back at my ignorance...
Whatta song. True that the live violins would have added more colour - but the first interlude is on par with any new age instrumental stuff and the second interlude is packed with very nice tribal drums.
Now to the song and the singing - can there be any more softer singing of this song - SPB charan's rendition is so velvetty - and who has sung the female vocal - nice voice there too and the tune is magical...

I think the female singer for 'kamali kamali' is Sunitha. That album had SPB Charan and this lady singing most of the song. One song has the Raja version and an Unnikrishnan version.

I had bought this tape when the movie was released. Gave it to a friend of mine asking him to listen to this. As it generally happens, never got back the tape. 'nodirava nodirava', 'kamali kamali', 'goro gorukana' and two more songs. Lovely album.

You are right. The other one is a group song which happens right in the beginning of the movie. My pick of the movie is 'nodirave'. The music and the picturization go hand in hand showing that the director worked very closely with Raja.

Back to MMKR. One of the most talked about movies in the hub. One interesting aspect of the movie is not wasting a single shot - even in the seemingly dragging 3 scenes (fixing the car while running, toilet saNdai and climax) lot of interesting things are packed.

So is the title song, which would have been a long flash back (or long series of initial scenes) in prior age masAlAs. Not in this movie, which packs all that stuff plus titles within a few minutes.

So much happens on the screen that most won't notice the lines of the song. Otherwise also the song had little chance of being talked about as the movie had a stunning array of others. Hardly any chance to get noticed, though it had the story told in a simple / effective manner. (Mix of villuppattu & kathakalAkshEbam styles as used in TFM, rendered effortlessly by Raja and some sweet interludes).

BTW, Who wrote these lines? Was it PA?

Interludes in the Kadha kelu were as modern as anyone could get in 1990. A true post modernist song.
