Dev, without the tamarind the thokku is very bland.
After adding the tamarind, it tastes so good.
Very nice with dosai, idli, chappathi and so on.
Do please give it a try and see.
The peanuts give a very good taste for the thokku.
Dev please do not hesitate to post any recipes that you know.
We can always modify to suit our taste.
Thanks. Kugan98
K, I thought u had to throw it away coz of bad taste... But am happy to know it turned edible after adding tamarind juice... I'll try it soon...
I'll change the recipie- adding tamarind to it...

Selviiem, I am still not over the shock of gelatine.
You know they have the jelly crystals, in different flavours, they too use the gelatine to set the jelly.
I have made different types of jellies, for the children
I feel very ashamed. Thanks. Kugan98
Kugan - not all jellies use gelatin. I usually buy Weikfield, which says it contains no gelatin, and is 100% vegetarian. I haven't thought about this while buying jujupes
The same is the case with cheese, where rennet is used. But, most Indian cheese mfrs do not use rennet,- Amul for sure. But unless specifically stated, most foreign cheeses are made with rennet. Worcestershire sauce, silver warq used on sweets, chammandhi podi in Kerala hotels(it is fish chammandhi in many places)... the list goes on, though we don't give it a thought

kugan, we get the vegetarian gelatine. mostly i dont entertain kids for jellies as well as jujubs, coz of the colour.
but this is a lesson for all (not only for u), we have to be very careful while buying stuffs.

Sprout Salad (Selviem)
in a restaurant we had sprout salad. (long sprout).
receipe is simple and it taste so good.
long sprout - 1 cup, thin slices of onion - 1 tblsp, thin slices of coloured capsicum - 2 tblsp.
mix sprouts, onion, capsicum, with 1 tsp of lemon juice, pinch of pepper, pinch of salt, drop of olive oil mix and refrigerate it for 2 to 3 hours then serve. garnish with pudhina (one or two leaves).
