I watched this movie in Gulbarga, Karnataka in 2004.

Hemamalini acted as his sister I think... Rajini takes revenge for killing his family members.. Good one if you like old action films of Rajini.

Yes. sattum oru iruttarai was directed by vijay's dad and was remade to almost 4 or 5 languages......

I watched this movie in Gulbarga, Karnataka in 2004.

Rajinikanth and Hema Malini, as his sister play the lead. Amitabh did an extended cameo/second hero kind of role which helped the movie in getting a good opening. Dharmendra appeared in one scene. I think these roles was not there in Sattam Oru Iruttarai. AK ran well - though not a blockbuster like Ek Duje Ke Liye, Rajini became a well known face in Bollywood and was flooded with offers. But his selection, just like Kamal's wasn't too good. A lot many movies of his flopped - Bhrashtachar, Farishtey, Gangwa, Bhagwan Dada, Uttar Dakshin are some which I can recollect now. After the success of Geraftaar(AB+KH+RK) he played 2nd, 3rd hero to actors like Sridevi, Rekha, Jackie Shroff in many movies. Few of them became successful - like Chaal Baaz and Hum.

Really ?? Majority of my Hindi/Punjabi/Pakistani friends ( born and grew up in UK) knows Rajni well, but they never regarded him as a "popular " actor in Bollywood, same thing about Kamal... though kamal had a blockbuster in the name of "Ek Duje Ke Liye". I think it is only after the mass masala films like Shivaji the boss, and Endhiran Rajni has become very popular amongst "Mumbai wallahs" , even amongst the Younger (teenage) generation!
