    Voiceless Tracks <--> Instrumentals of Songs

    Irrespective of language,type of song (song or instrumental), Ilaiyaraaja's music is a genre by itself. There are hundreds of his compositions, which have the quality of universality, be it through ideas or idioms or musical phrases, and are yet slotted into regional languages, just because of the language of vocals involved in them.

    Some members have successfully been de-coding his music, by removing the vocals, ripping the instrumental portions, to explore the inner textures, designs and ideas, that actually make Ilaiyaraaja the genius he is.

    This thread is solely for members to share such wonderful tracks, which let our ears open to the huge musical canvas painted behind a song, using his musical brush. Lets study the master strokes here.

    for the links and your efforts fan_ir

    Ore oru nitpick: The bass lines seemed to be removed/weakened along with the voice. Is this something which cannot be avoided?

    @Bala

    The bass lines indeed get lost while ripping the centric sound.That is perhaps due to the fact that they stay close to the vocal track. However I'm finding alternate techniques to add them. From the below track you can see the bass area being extracted.

    Mudhi Mudhi - Bass Lines

    Though they are not the actual bass lines but would indicate how well they are placed.
    Here comes one more - I've used this technique and bass should now sound rich and clear. One of those pieces where the beat loops continuously from start to end with out any variation(count em?) and watch out for the violin countering the main melody at the end.

    Maasi Maasam - http://www.mediafire.com/?3mkwnzqnjd5

    Analyzing these pieces would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Enjoy
