Indian "National ID" project
This project made news today when Infosys co-founder Nandan got hired directly by PM to head the initiative.

ok, what's there to discuss - one may ask.
Well, that an average Indian does not have any ID in itself is a great topic to discuss IMO That apart, let's discuss the various challenges / progress so far made in this aspect in the country / comparison with other NIDs (for e.g. SSN in USA and the associated processes / benefits / pitfalls etc).
Also, this project alone should start a huge set of IT requirements. The database will really be huge as also the security, man power requirements etc. Let's discuss.

wow - a very good initiative, something i feel shud have been started long back (CBN started it for hyd alone and failed i guess)
the challenge wud be in giving away only ONE to each person which even if 80% achieved shud go a long way in success at multiple areas
Till the full stop doesn't come, the sentence is not complete - MSD

Certainly a good initiative. But i am surprised it is coming now. Very soon we could do CIA-tracking style.
