Idhayam Pogudhe is from Pudhiya Varpukkal, right? I always thought it was sung by Jency. Didn't knew it was PS.

Another song on the similar lines - Engeyo Etho Pattondru Kaetten from Nadhiyai Thedi Vantha Kadal. A real haunting song sung by PS.

ரொம்ப நாளைக்கு அப்புறம் ஒரு மாலைப்பொழுதில் கேட்டபோது மெய்மறக்கச் செய்த பாடல். முக்கியமா வரிகள். "வேதனையைத் தூண்டுதடி" என்ற வரியை பாலு பாடியிருக்கும் அழகை விவரிக்க வார்த்தைகள் இல்லை.

ஒரு நல்ல ராக அமைப்பில் அமைந்த பாடலுக்கு வரிகள் எந்த அளவுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் என்பதை பசுமரத்தாணி போல உணரவைக்கும் வரிகளைக் கொண்டது. ஒரு காலத்தில் ராஜாவின் இசையில் இப்படிப் பட்ட கற்பனைத்திறன் மிக்க பாடல்வரிகள் அதிகமாக இருந்தது.

பதினைந்து இருபது வருடங்களாக வந்த பிற்காலத்திய பாடல்களில் அத்திப் பூத்தாற்போல, இது போன்ற ஒரு சில அதிசயங்கள் எப்போதோவது நிகழ்வதுண்டு.

Thanks for the correction. For some unknown reason I though 'Idayam Poguthe' was by P Susheela.

raj: Yup. "Engeyo Etho" is lovely and by coincidence was listening to it this morning. Also "Dhagam Edukura Neram'. Uma Ramanan. What a song!!

Reg Uma Ramanan, I remember a 'Paatu Paadava' program where director Manobala said that whenever he made a film he would ask Raja to give a song to Uma Ramanan. He was saying that if she sang a song, it was bound to be a sure hit!!
