All these frustrations are only for a very short moment, when posted in the hub or by bloggers It lasts a little longer when "reputed" magazines write articles in that tone (like you said, often to glorify talents of later years - as if some of these new sounds in percussion were newly invented).

Well, the feelings would have been similar to those who appreciated pre-IR talents, when IR too was credited with a lot of "firsts". I think these are part of the unjust side of the

MMKR songs on repeat mode

sivarAththiri wasn't noticed much (i.e. by me) when it got released. I don't remember seeing the movie in theater also.

After I got the VHS, the movie had been repeated so many times at home but each time this song gets prompty FF'ed ('ஏன் அப்பாவும் அம்மாவும் ரிமோட்டுக்காக இப்படிப்பரபரக்குறாங்க'ன்னு பொண்ணு ஆச்சரியப்படுமளவுக்கு இருக்கும்).

Only on this CD (MDM + MMKR + mounam sammadham), I've really paid attention to this song. Quite an interesting number, funny as well. Funny to see Mano struggling with mukkal-munagal in the first stanza (IR saves this trouble from singers in the second one with instrumental sounds). KSC just makes it, though the song is made for SJ + SPB or MV.

I don't know whose idea it was to use this combo for this song (IR or Kamal or Singeetham). It was not like MV / SPB / SJ were not around - why each have song a song or two for the same film. Possibly one of those kuRumbu thoughts of the team.

pAvam Chitra - possibly the only number where she had to make such sounds. By and large, both singers sing "serious"ly, however

The instrumentals (especially the solo violin pieces, the guitar that loudly plays along with the 'vidiya - vidiya') are top class! So is the rhythm arrangement!

p.s. the song has somewhere the name of the actress mentioned - Roopini - along with calling the boy 'appu' - another kuRumbu, reminding people of apoorva sahOdhararkaL

Mentioning actress/actor's names is a vaali trick. Even kannadasan's "thevarin kulam kaakkum vElaiyyA" has a back story. Vaali made it a regular habit - ippo examples gnabagam varala but neaiya irukku(I mean apart from the thousand "raja" references)
