whitening tips

Hi friends,
I made one mistake while washing the cloths in wahsing mashine.By mistake I put one brown colour shorts of my son along with other white cloths.But the surprise is that only all the VEST's and socks were changed and I dipped all those in CLOREX for 4 to 5 hours, and washed again.But there is no result.Anybody please help me to get back the white again or give me any solution that I can get from outside.

Is there any substitute for dettol available in USA(to wash the kids' clothes)?
