Who am I?

No Titan, Hercules or Atlas can flex his muscle as spectacularly as I! I am the new omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent deity, a super power that has conquered the world which has shrunk into a global village in this communication era.

I am an emperor slurping my delicious dish of POWER, steeped in its sweet intoxication. The sway I hold over my subjects is supreme and complete.

Am I not another Hades? Has anyone ever escaped from my iron control? That is because my attraction is like a magnet’s for iron.

But unlike in the kingdom of Hades there are no tears and sighs in my domain. It is just the opposite. Mine is a paradise of perennial interest and pleasure.

I have treasures outshining the diamonds of Kimberly mines. You may witness the daring craze of the mad American gold rush of bygone years in the eyes, nay fingers, of zealots scouring my inviting zones.

I am a diamond mine, a gold canyon, a Pandora’s box, all rolled in one! Your search may bring nuggets in a jiffy!

What is it you want to see- the past, the present or the future? Is it arts, science, technology, medicine, metaphysics, gossip or pornography? I can help you!

Do you want to travel in your armchair? Do you want to contact your dear and near ones beyond the sea? Do you want to order your pizza and coke? Buy, sell anything and everything? Come to me!

My tentacles reach the remotest corners of the world. The buzz of a beehive comes nowhere near my busy activity! It is non-stop, round-the-clock. The sun never sets for me.

Have you not yet guessed who I am? If not let me reveal my name which is not unheard in even all the nooks and corners of the world. I am the INTERNET- the most needed aid, the most prevailing trend, the most addicting ?drug?, the most important reality in the modern world. A very real virtual world- how antithetical it sounds? - a baffling, mind-boggling, unexpected phenomenon.

In my heavenly world there are no taboos, no restraints. Shed your reserve, fear and reluctance to strike up instant friendships that can be heart-warming and long-lasting.

My cyberspace is an ideal platform for discussions, debates and exchange of ideas. The right place to find anything and everything under the sun.

The netizens, however, need to be warned of the chaff along the grain, the unauthentic, false information along with sterling knowledge.

Just like in the real world the good and evil co-exist in my domain. Charities and crimes thrive likewise. You cam win, gain, enjoy as well as lose, rue and regret. Be wary and judicious.

Complex and awesome as the very human brain that created the computer my darling vehicle can I ever hope to supercede my creator? A machine’s presumption over Nature’s wonder? Artificial intelligence conquering native ingenuity? But the race is on!

Let me in all humility remember the great bard’s words:
“O, it is excellent to have a giant's strength, but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant.”

PP Maam they should use your balanced view of the internet as an intro piece to those who are just starting to use it. I wish I had this to present to seniors whom we taught to use the net (as members of the library club

) when I was in Highschool.

I like how you have included the utopic possibilities as well as the dangers/seedier aspects of the internet in an amusing and interesting read

The topic came to my mind as a sudden flash when I saw an announcement for a 'illsion star' contest, imagining as someone or something else in another site.
