I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.

Saw trailer of "The Tourist" last night. From FHVD, director of "Lives of others" (one of the best films last decade). While on spies, this seems a different animal altogether. Contemporary. And mainstream Hollywood debut from the European filmmaker. Lot more "action". A remake of french film "Anthony Zimmer", collaborating with writer of "Usual suspects", it promises to be everything you'd think it to be.

Parts I & II were for the kids. III took the huge curve. It's a largely cinematic story with 'time-turner', but when it got Cuaron handling the direction, it seemed infallible. I hear there are some appreciable improv at different places. But I've never read the book.

Btw, news is that DDL will be playing Lincoln in Spielberg's biopic.
I suggest all the Hollywood lead actors to temporarily adjourn all the major releases for that calendar year.

The paper quotes a spokesman for the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency as saying that Day-Lewis spent much of his time in the House of Representatives chamber in the Old Capitol. And while the producers visited areas of the presidential museum dedicated to Lincoln's assassination and funeral, Day-Lewis opted not to, reportedly explaining, "I'm portraying Lincoln alive and I choose not to go any farther."

'Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema's distant future. I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with 'Lincoln',' hollywood.com quoted Spielberg as saying.
'Throughout his career, he has been exceptionally selective in his choice of material, which makes us feel even more fortunate that he has chosen to join with us for 'Lincoln',' said Stacey Snider, co-chairman and CEO of DreamWorks Studios.

By major releases, you mean Oscar attempts and not those targeted for commercial audience right ? Just Kidding.
Nice to see DDL starting a new movie after his brief hiatus.
