Some people have asked me in PM on what is the difference between copy and inspiration
well, it really depends on the person. one man's copy is another man's inspiration and vice versa.
for me, akkarai seemai azhaginilE is a copy of this piece:

We have discussed here zillion times about the ARR thing. When the same loop is used by 2 composers, the first one to release will be original and the second one will be 'COPY'. Tell me one ARR song which has a similar tune to another song.

pEsum maNi muthu rojakkal - pennalla pennalla oodhappoo
    Sahara - Orey Naal
Enna Vilai azhage - Thangapadhakkathin Melae..

Idhellam orey raagathil amaindha paadalgal. He has shown creativity and uniqueness which has distinguished him from the other MDs and thats why he is ARR. But comparing him to blatant lifters like x,y,z is something irritating.

plum, everyone copies = all are the same?
I stand by the statement that everyone has copied. so no moral high ground please.

ajay, why does a talented musician need to use commercial loops?
plum has mentioned one song, there are many others throughout his career.

Using commercial loops is 10000000000000 times better than stealing someone else's creativity.

Ajay, it is more than orE ragathil amaindha paadal. The pallavi is literally the same.
Actually, I am not sure if they are the same raga, paradoxical as it sounds.
It is a bit like Yeh Dil Deewana-Inji Iduppazhagi.

AFAIK, there is nothing like a blatant lift in Rahman's career except for the starting phrase of Enna Vilai Azhage. Even IR has Kanavu Kaanum Vaazhkai which is ditto of Kasme Vaade Pyar Wafaa. Even the other ones quoted by NOV can be in disputed territory between copy and inspired. This one's complete line by line lift. There are stories around exchange of Ilaya nilaa and this one. But I just cannot imagine a sane reason why he did that.

Another one is Khaike Paan Banaraswala in the Telugu version of Don. That one was supposed to be due to NTR pressure, and it is understandable that IR wasnt influential in Telugu in late 70s. But in the 80s in tamil, he could have simply said Balu M to f-off if the latter insisted on lifting kasme vaade. Dont know why he didnt do that.
