M.R. RADHA THE HERO?
Actor Radha Ravi used to tell everyone that the general public has a negative impression on his late father M.R. Radha on account of the MGR shooting incident. He claims that his father was also a reformist, next only to E.V. K. Ramasamy Naikar (Periar). It was a pity that no statue of his father was allowed to be erected just because he served a jail sentence arising out of the MGR shooting incident, he said. His along time ambition was to tell the masses about the greatness of his late father hence this 'Maraka Mudiyuma' series, a project which he has an hand. Therefore, viewers can expect to see MR Radha being portrayed as a hero of sorts in this serial. Of course, MGR die-hard fans will be sorely disappointed. Incidentally, the dubbing voice over for the MR Radha character in this serial is without doubt Radha Ravi's. So, you can see the connection. But then, again according to reliable sources, the actual truth culminating the shooting incident will never be known due to its sensitiveness.

Just saw the summing up of both the prosecution and defence submissions of the MGR shooting case in Makkal TV. It appears there are some pertinent factors missing. It was generally well known that MR Radha had consumed alcohol prior to going to MGR's house. This was not revealed in this series. Secondly, no emphasis by the prosecution was made on the ballistic test results from the revolver used. Thirdly, the subject of actress Saroja Devi was purposefully brought up by the defence lawyer in one of the earlier episodes who informed the court that it has got some relevance to the case. Surprisingly during the latter proceedings it never materialised. It should also be noted that consequent upon the shooting incident there were many speculations attributing towards the cause, amongst them Saroja Devi.
I observed that during the court trial scenes the court exhibits are termed as 'witnesses'and have been freely used by both the prosecution and defence teams. If I am not wrong the term 'witness' is used for living persons and not for inanimate materials. Can anyone out there enlighten on this?
All in all, this is one case which the general public will not be privy to know the raison de' etre. This case can be equated with the still unsolved mystery of the death of Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe in the early sixties There were strong rumours that it was linked to her affair with the then US President J.F. Kennedy. In both the cases many theories abound but none can be accentuated.
A senior veteran (film director) of the Tamil film industry intimated to me that when the news of M.R. Radha shooting MGR incident reached the late TS Balliah's ears his immediate comment was 'Radha ethai thaan olungaa senjirikiraan?' (Radha cannot do anything right). It can be noted that TS Balliah did not act with MGR after this incident. Perhaps MGR did not kindly stomach the comments.

Gounder did it with his own style but vivek copied even Radha's voice
I was watching a programme in Kalaignar TV.. 'Marakka mudiyuma' about MR Radha. Most of his scenes are simply superb combined with 'paguthaRivu' & timing.

MR R will advise him to take whatever SSR gives.
P1: summa irra pitchaikara (to MR R)
MRR: nan enna unnai madhiri pitchaiya kettaen.. nan pattukku summa paduthurukkaen
// shades of Gounder
P1: nee ippadi pesuradhalathan kadavul unnai ippadi vechurukkan
MRR: aama.. unna top-ula vechurukkan enna underground la vechurukkan
