Yes, Rajesh. Great star cast. Wonder whether the movie with excellent songs, including a melodious duet "Thanganilavil Kendai Irandu Thulli Thirivadundo" was a success. That was by the real-life jodi AMR and Jikki. Also wonder why SMS chose TMS to sing three solos, all great nos mind you, for Gemini when in those days it was AM Raja who ruled the roost as the singing voice of "Kaadal Mannan". I agree TMS has sung some other great songs for Gemini in those days like "Ennarumai Kaadalikku" in "Ellorum Innanattu Mannar", "Vaazhndalum Yesum" in "Satharam" and "Thillai Ambala Nataraja" in the movie I can't recollect off hand. Still three solos for TMS in a Gemini film in those days looks a bit incongruous, does not not?

Hi all,

Continuing the very interesting discussion abt SMS, one of his landmark albums was surely "Annayin Aanai", a wealth of superb songs with the TMS solo "Annayai Pol" and the wonderful TMS-PS duet "Kanavin Maya Logathile" being the icing on the cake. Not to forget the melodious P Leela song "Neeye Gadhi Eeswari". Wonderful compositions, all. And Savitri looks bewitching in the dream song "Kanavin Maya" crooning with the stylish Sivaji Ganesan. One of the best-ever dream sequences in TFM. But that's one of the few scenes of romance in the movie as son Sivaji is bent upon avenging his father Sivaji's murder right through the movie by kidnapping murderer Ranga Rao and imprisoning him in the dungeon, a 'la' Alexander Dumas-style. Clearly more of grey in this character etched by the master.
