madhu.. nakkaldane
vaasi.. i havent seen this movie but i have seen the picturisation of this song and also the song "aaru maname aaru". Based on that and the lyrics of this song, i will give my understanding
People who have seen this movie should correct me if any my understanding or the interpretations are wrong
Though this is a love song by a couple (sivaji and devika), this song has two parts to it.. 1st part is when TMS sings and the second part is when PS sings it.
When TMS sings it, one can get a philosophical tone to it than a love song, where as when PS sings, it is more of love and answering his dilemma.
A couple is rowing a boat in a serene lake and wonderful atmosphere. A perfect setting for a romantic song and TMS starts of with, "amaithiyaana nadhiyinile odum odam alavillaadha vellam vandhaal aadum, kaatrinilum mazhaiyinilum kalanga vaikkum idiyinilum tharaiyinile odhungi nindraal vaazhum"
Our lives are also like this. Currently it is fine but soon there will be uncertainities ( for boat it is natural calamities) and problems which will spoil the serenity. So similar to the boat, which is always safe in the shore than in the middle of the lake, shouldnt we shun our adventure (romance) and be at the shore (lotus feet of the almighty or being realised souls)
Then he further adds testimony to his statement by comparing thennai maram and naanal. Thennai maram stands tall and can feel proud and can nod its head when there is a breeze.. but one should realise when the same breeze turns into a tempest, it will bring the thennai maram down. Where as on the other hand, naanal is small and its head is bent always, which the thennai maram would have even criticised earlier. But naanal will always withstand any tempest and survives. Similarly, matured minds (not just aged people) "kanidha manam" doesnt get sulken and remain unaffected by any catastrophe "veezhvadhillai"
Ivlo paadina apram endha pennukkuthaan mood irukkum, aanaal PS vidavillai. PS starts off with "naananile kaal edhuthu nadandhu vandha penmai idhu". Meaning.. you moron, penmai enbadhum naanal enbadhum ondrudhaan, aagave summa summa pulambi kondiraadhe, i have all the maturity :P
She adds further, "andhiyil mayangi vizhum kaalaiyil thelindhu vidum".. your dilemma isnt correct.. anything which falls will rise similar to the sunset and sunrise and we cant be seeing the darkness and get pessimistic. My love for you will change the dilemma in you and i do agree about what ever you gave as examples but thats life and we should carry on with our lives.
