gatsby : the picturisation of the "metti oli " song is also very good, with radhika, vadivukkarasi and vijayakumari.

    Ramki,
The kunnakkudi's movie is titled "Raaga bandhangal", I believe.

This thread is becoming "Hard to find TFM - Part II", but anyway..

Have you listened to "Anbe Odi vaa" songs?

azhagaana pookkal malarnthaadume - SPB (Ramki: do you recall, this tune was sort of copied in Kampong kiligal
kanvodu aengum siru poonkodi - SJ
jodi nadhigal paadhai vilagi sernthana - SPB

Rajaraman thanks for correcting me on the 'raaga bandhangal'title.
IN anbe odi vaa there is a duet by MV-UR-a nice song but i dont remember now.

    Continuing my list:

Ninaikka therindha manamae(Mohan,RUpini,Rajesh)-based on a story written by Idhayam Maniyan had 3 nice songs by IR
    kannukkum kannukkum modhal - KJY
    engengu nee sendra podhum-KJY,Chitra
    chinna chinna - KJY,SJ

Isaikku oru kovil-a dabba film with Sivakumar and Ambika-all the songs were too good and majority of them were based on classical raagas
    endhan kaikuttaiyai yaar eduthadhu-KJY,SJ
    vaazhai maram katti vazha ninaithadhenne-KJY,SJ

kaalangalil aval vasantham(Srividya,Chandrakala,Muthuraman-there are 4 songs in this film and 3 among them became popular(Music:Vijaybhaskar)
    manamagalae un manavarai kolam
    paadum vandae parthadhunda
    anbennum sudarai erindhadhu vilakku
All 3 are solos by VJ

Annan oru kovil-An hit album by MSV during ilaiyarajas initial stage-there are 5 songs in this film
    annan oru kovil endraal-PS/SPB
    malligai mullai-TMS
    naalu pakkam aeri undu-SPB,VJ
    kunguma kolangal kovil kondaada-VJ

Thanks Ravy for reminding me of Chittu Kuruvi. I must search for the cassette. Such wonderful songs. Although I will receive a lot of flak for this, let me say it: I think Chittu Kuruvi is a better album than Annakili. )

Trsut Ramki to come up with the amendments! Thanks Ramki. You again rekindled my memories on a couple of songs, such as Alai meedhu thadumaarudhe siru odam, Nee varuvai ene naan irundhen, Selvamae ore mugam parkkiren & Engengu nee sendra podhum, great songs that have been forgotten.

Gatsby - Oru line-a padikumbothu engeyo poita maathiri irukuthu.
Precisely the reason for this thread. Glad that it brought back good memories for you.
    I love Metti songs too.

Guys, I searchd my store for something for this thread and guess what turned up? A great collection and one of my fondest and choicest album from the early 80s.

If you don't have any of these songs, I implore you to beg, borrow or steal. It is definitely worth it.

The songs are not demarcated properly and I am not sure which one belongs to which movie. So, I will lump them together as well. )

Kashmir Kaathali I don't know who is the MD.
Gramathu Athiyaayam This one is by IR
Agal Vilakku This is also by IR.

    Poopoandra penngaley, pollaachi kangaley
is by KJ Jesudass. This is the weakest song in this collection, but no mean one either. A sort of penn-keili song.

    Sangeethamey en deiveethamey
by KJ Jesudass and P Suseela. Both their voices are a perfect match.

Yeithoa ninaivugal, kanavugal, manathiley, kaaveri neeraagavey, kaatroadu kaatraagavey
the namesake of this thread is by KJ Jesudass and SP Sailaja. Words alone cannot describe the beauty and sheer romance of this song.

    Puthu sugam, arimugam
by S. Janaki is a soulful number, surely sending the listener to emotional depths.

Azhagiya sennira vaanam, athiley, un mugam kandein
SP Bala & S. Janaki. Oh God! Why do we need any more songs? )

    Vaadaatha Rosaappoo, naan ingu paarthein
by SP Bala is a sad song along the lines of Uchi vaguntheduththu. Kaathaadi poalaachu pennodu siru nenju ..... ammaadi oorellaam poali veisham....

    Poovey, ithu poojai kaalamei
I can't decipher the singer. It can be either Sujatha or Swarnalatha. Not Jency. Maybe Ramki can help.

Ootha kaaththu veesayile, kuyilu koovayile, konjidum aasaiyile, kuruvinga peisaile
by Jayachandran and S. Janaki proves IR's mastery over village songs.

    Maalai neira kaatrey
by S. Janaki is a heart wrenching number.

    Aaththu meittule oru paattu keikkuthu
Not one but two graamiya songs, each one distinct, by Jayachandran & S. Janaki. Can anyone fault me for calling this the choicest album?

    Elloarum porandhoam onnaaga valarnthoam
by Malaysia Vasu is a cheery song, after a jail release!

    Nee kannil vaazhum mannan thaaney
I round up this album with this escatic number which, no one who has listened to before, can claim not to be bewitched. )))

Ippadi innisai mazhaiyil ungalai ninaiya vaiththathil enakku romba magizhchi. I hope you had a good time reading, as I did, listening. ))))

Okay, Ramki, I think this time you are definitely wrong, "Kaatrinilae Varum Geetham" was directed by
    S.P. Muthuraaman.

NOV, if you have the three movies mentioned above in a CD, please let me know the CD label and other distributor info. I would love to get my hands on it.
