O Bhishma, if one like thee, possessed of virtue and morality acteth from motives of interest, he is deserving of censure among the honest and the wise. How doth he of the Dasarha race, who is not even a king, accept worship before these kings and how is it that he hath been worshipped by ye? O bull of the Kuru race, if thou regardest Krishna as the oldest in age, here is Vasudeva, and how can his son be said so in his presence?

Dear Komban,
I Intend giving that Every Indian worship has more than 2000 years Old Santity with Sangam Literature.
Dipavali is mentioned in Sangam and I have given it in this Thead

Shiva, Murugan all are said as from Vedas and Vedic Gods in Sangam Lit.
You have to go Historically with Open Mind.
I thought that I shall Show all Avathars at respective Festivals.

BALARAMA
Dear Komban,
Lord Vishnu made several Avatars, popular bing 10- Dasavatar.
We always know that Lord Vishnu rested on Aadi Seshan the Snake, i..e, Aadi Seshan is always besides him.
In Ramayan -Lakshmana is the Aadiseshan's Avatar.
In Krishnavatar- Balarama is the Aadiseshan's Avatar.
Many references on Balarama are and Aadiseshan are there in Sangam Literature. Balarama is more signified in Sangam as closer to Farming.
I am compiling as -Vedi Sivan in Sangam Lit., Vishnu in Sangam Lit.,
Muruga in Sangam Lit., most of which I intend presenting it in the forthcoming Indian Historical Congress along with few of my other researchers.
I keep researching continously and posting in History and Tamil Threads, Please, keep on visiting regularly.

There is no necessity for Festival for every Awathara.
Hindu Religion gives highest importance to only Rama and Krishna Awathara...
...since these two Biographies convey the MOST IMPORTANT Gospels
...translated into practical action...
... as the guiding Lessons for the Life of Humanity

. Why RAMA the Tamilar God.?
In Tamilnadu and amongst Tamilians all over the world...
...we can notice several leading dignitaries, popular personages having the names of Rama in one or the other forms..
..like Ramasami, Raman, Rajaraman, Jayaraman, Rama Naicker, Ramadas, Ramabadran, Raghavan, Vijaya Raghavan, Raghupathi, Raghuraman, Seetharaman and so on... Why.?
(1) Because in general there is a Sentimental belief amongst Tamilians that Rama's names are the lucky ones...
..and so persons holding Rama's name will be more successful in Life.... than with other Names.
True to their belief... there are several examples of Ramans born in even poor and downtrodden families...
..risen up to great status in Life later.. Comparatively more than those holding other names... some people justify.
(2) Rama is the only God... who did not declare Himself as God...
...but as just one Human amongst the vast mass of people.
So people felt as also feeling close to him... even after Awathara.
(3) There is a wide-belief amongst the commonfolk...
...that Rama is the only God... who never punishes the devotees... even the worst criminals...
..and when the devotees duly introspect, confess and surrender... even the worst crimes are pardoned.
(3) Karpaar Raama-piraanai allaal matrum karparoa? (Meaning: If anybody wants to learn...
...What is Life?, How? and Why?...
...Is there any other Source than Rama's emulative Life Lessons shown in practice?) ... says Tamil Literature..
...not so EMPHATICALLY on any other God form.
(4) Kavi Chakravarthi Kambar... although a Narasimha-devotee as his Kula-Deywam...
...as is fortified by his name KAMBAR (meaning God Narasimha)...
... wrote on Rama only... which became very popular and continuing so through Literature...
...more than Villi-bharatham on Krishna.
(5) Rama is the only Nationally popular God... who walked down to South, especially Tamilnadu, extensively and widely...
...and his Biography is related to some locations here as Thillai Chithrakoodam, Jatayu moksha Sthalam, Rama penance at Thiruppulllani , as also Sethu and Rameswaram etc.
(6) During his Lifetime... Rama moved freely with people here in Tamilnadu...
...which affinity continues even after generations... as their Kula-Deywam.
(7) Hanuman has influenced in many peoples Life here...through not only all the Vishnu Temples...
..but also through several Upasakas being Spiritually possessed by Hanuman, the Ramadasa.
(8) Ramayanam is considered the holiest Punya-purana ..
...highly fit enough to purify and sanctify even a Mourned house.
(9) Vaishnavites quote Rama quite often... in their Religious discourses relating to Alwar paasurams...
...more than any other Awathara... Through them Rama-belief has spread wider still.
(10) Thyagaraja Swami a staunch Rama-devotee who was born in Tamilnadu and spent his whole Life here only...
..spread eternal Rama-bhakthi through his immortal Songs...
..although highly BROAD-MINDED, Catholic in approach towards all the Vedic Gods.!!
...coupled with Large-hearted outlook on Human-values.!!!
