Gemini, with his sweet looks and charm attracted many young ladies during his reign in the industry ... Savitri, popularly known as the Nadigayar Thilagam married Gemini Ganesan.

This charming personality ruled the ROMANTIC niche of the TAMIL CINEMA INDUSTRY and was very popular for his romantic and casual acting..... Voicing with AMRajah and PBS for his songs, many of his songs were true unforgettable HITS of the 60s......

One of my favourites of GG is the movie Then Nilavu Directed by Sreedhar..... Very casual romantic acting with Vaijayanthi Mala ... Those days, the songs Paatu paada vaa .... was really a big BLOCKBUSTER ......

The film was pictured in the Wonderful hilly and lake regions of Kashmir ... this was a Black n White treat of the wonderful Kashmir as treat to our eyes .....

Film had Gemini ganesan, Vaijayanthi mala, K.A.Thangavelu,M.Saroja,M.N.Nambiar and others. Sridhar and A.M.Raja had a good rapport till then and were doing films together and this marked their last joint venture.

AMR came up with some classic numbers for this film and Kannadasan came up with classic lyrics for each song.

Film had variety of songs and most of them were shot in Kashmir

The Evergreen Paatu paadava by AMR himself is an amazing song and every one even now hums this song

Not only during the past .... even before his demise in 2005 ...... Gemini has acted in many films .... noticbly in Avvai Shanmugi ... where he played in the character as Father of Meena .... and FIL of Kamal .... naturally falling for the feminine Shanmugi feeling her to look similar to his wife ...... very natural acting ....

Also quotable is the Rudra Veena and Unnal Mudiyum Thambi where he played the father of Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Padma Shri Kamal Hassan respectively ... Portraying as Bilahari Maarthaandam pillai in the movie he brilliantly brought out the life to the role of a typical singer ..... The role aptly fitted him in the Rudra Veena, which made him to perform the same role in the movie UMT .......

The scene where he is questioned by the media, and he answers all with his actions n sounds without even reciting a single word was really awesome ....

Movies like Mettukudi and Avvai Shanmugi proved his comic stand even in his late days .....

He is Kadhal Mannan forever !

Gemini was superb in sumai thangi. I think that it is easily his best performance.

Also, his performance in punnagai. KB termed it the best film he directed.

Gemini however felt that his best performance came in naan avan illai.

India today, in its tribue, said that while seeing the brute romance of the likes of vikram in sethu, we realise how we miss the romantic moments provided by the 'kadhal mannan' in his films.

A vastly underrated actor.
