Malacca Governor Mohd Khalil wows crowd by acting as MGR

MALACCA: Malacca Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, a diehard M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) fan, dazzled thousands here when he re-enacted the late actor’s role in the 1964 blockbuster Vettaikaran at the State Culture and Art Auditorium in Ayer Keroh.

Mohd Khalil’s splendid 45-minute performance with Bukit Katil MIC chairman K. Basil received a standing ovation from an appreciative audience.

“I have been fascinated by Tamil movies as a boy. MGR has always projected noble values in his movies where good triumphs over evil and was a source of motivation for me during my teenage years,” Mohd Khalil said after the performance on Saturday.



He had choreographed the moves and used Malay for the dialogue but interspersed it with a few Tamil words.

Mohd Khalil said his love for MGR movies had made him a Tamil film fan.

“Of course, now my favourite heroes are Surya and Tanush while I am often tickled by the humourous act of comedian Vadivellu,” he said.

Mohd Khalil said he agreed to take part in the performance as he wanted to entertain the Malacca folk and promote the values of integration.

எம்.ஜி.ஆர் படங்களுக்கு எதிராக சில பேர் பொய் செய்திகள் பரப்பி வருகிறார்கள்.என்னமோ தங்களது அபிமான நடிகரின் படம் மட்டும் தான் சாதனை படைத்தது என்றும் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் படம் எல்லாம் அந்த போட்டி(?) நடிகரின் படஙகளைக் காட்டிலும் குறைவான நாட்கள் ஒடியது என்றும் கூறி வருகிறார்கள்.

உண்மையில் எம்.ஜி.ஆர். திரை உலகில் இருந்த வரை அவர் படங்கள் செய்த சாதனைகளை அவரது போட்டி நடிகர் கிட்டவே நெருங்க முடியவில்லை.

எம்.ஜி.ஆர் படங்கள் மிகப் பெரிய வெற்றி பெற்றால் சர்வ சாதாரணமாக குறைந்தது 15 திரை அரங்குகளில் 100 நாட்கள் ஓடும்.

ஆனால் போட்டி நடிகரின் படமோ 10 திரை அரங்குகளுக்கு மேல் ஓடாது.
