It can't be thalai vasal as I am sure its from an early 80's movie...Any way thanks one and all to both yvsmani and NOV.... where can I hear both these songs as I am not able to find thalaivasal songs any where in the net..

This is from a movie called "Unna Nenachen Paattu Padicchen" starring Karthik, Monisha (mallu actress died in car accident) and Sasikala. It was one of my favourite during those days.
