Nadhiye (Water)
Beautiful lyrics by Vairamuthu, where he compares river with a woman. And, ARR's tune enhances the song more. Not much percussion in this song except Thavil during the starting of saranams, second interlude and towards the end of the song. But that makes you yearn for more.
If there are river flowing sounds in the beginning of the song, ARR ends the song with a girls' giggle and complements the lyrics beautifully.
Kaatrae (Air)
Wonderful melody. Flute rules the roost in this song. I've noticed that whenever Rahman uses flute in his songs, the result is top-notch. This song is no exception. Note when Unnikrishnan pauses after "Methuvaaga kathavu" flute goes in a low note instead of the word "thiranthaai".
As usual female harmony rocks in this song too.
Thaniye (Earth)
If it's flute in Kaatre and Thavil in Nathiye, it's strings in Thaniyae. Though the song is not a slow number, it evocates the longing-ness of a lover in a brilliant manner.
En Vaanil (Sky)
This song is a music lovers' delight. The violin arrangements, percussion, occasional tabla beats...everything oozes class.
At 3:03, the beats stop, wait for few seconds when Sadhana sings "vizhiyum vizhum kalantha pothu paarvai ondru aanathey" and continues from where it left. Whoaa...This is stuff of a legend.
I don't know whether I'll go to heaven after life. But I have already experienced how it will be.
Thank You, ARR
