If you are talking about the brown sugar you get outside India, I don't think it is panankalkaNdu
The moment will arrive when you are comfortable with who you are, and what you are--when you don't feel the need to apologize for anything or to deny anything. To be comfortable in your own skin is the beginning of strength.

i think panankalkaNdu is palm sugar, not sure abt brown sugar.
In India as far as i know there is the regular refined white sugar and jaggery. Never seen brown sugar in India.

No. Brown sugar and Panankalkandu are different.

Brown sugar is produced from the first crystalization of cane sugar. This is then processed to produce White Sugar.

as dsath says, panankalkandu is palm sugar.

    Hi
Brown sugar available in markets is what is called 'KARUPPATTI' in Tirunelveli district. It is the most healthy mix for coffee. But will not taste good if added to tea.

IT IS CALLED PANANGKARUPPATTI, as it is made up of palm sugar juice heated and poured into dies, semi circular in shape.
