This is a compositon said to be written by Shri Purandaradasaru, but experts are of the opinion that this is
a composition (tatvapada = Moral poem = Philosophical song) of Shri Sarpabhushana Shivayogi of 18th Century with signature 'gurusiddadeva'.
Some of the words in the lyrics indicate that it is 'tatvapada'.

Here is a devotional song on Goddess SHARADA DEVI from the film ‘raNadhIra kaMThIrava’, b/w film released during 1960.
Though the song is not in ‘mEgha malhAr’ raga, at the end of the song singer is able to bring the rains in the area by singing

When dance programme was going on Guru will enter the temple premises.
Guru (Udayakumar) will object the proceedings happening infront of GOD RANGANATHA at SHREERANGAPATNA temple.
Guru is not happy with improper dance and music with wrong notes in front of GOD in the temple.
Balakrishna (Mrudagam player) try to justify his action and scold back Guru.
Dancer (Leelavathi) also tease Guru.
Narasimharaju offers shruti box (tambUri) to Guru.
Guru rejects the offer of Narasimharaju and says:
Spectacles are needed for blind persons. Those who are unfit to recognize the notes, they should depend on shruti box.
When tune is mixed with sound, body will become shruti box with 3 strings (trikaraNa - body, speech and mind) and produce correct notes. At our will, all the seven notes will come to obey our order to play the music. I will show that 'NAADA BRAHMA' and 'VEDA BRAHMA' both are same. Please sit and watch.
