    Seafood

    fish masala

    boneless fish fillets - 5, cut into 4 pieces each
    marinade:
    lemon (juice) - 1 no
    chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
    garam masala - 1/4 tsp
    salt
    ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp

    oil - 2 tbsp
    onion - 2, chopped
    tomato - 2, chopped
    turmeric - 1/4 tsp
    red chilli powder - 1 tsp
    coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
    cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
    amchur - 1 tsp
    garlic paste - 1 tsp
    ginger paste - 1 tsp
    salt
    corinder leaves
    more lemon juice(optional)

    1. marinate the fish for 10 minutes and grill/ fry till golden.
    2. heat oil, add onion and fry; add tomatoes , garlic-ginger and spices.
    3. sprinkle water and fry till masala is cooked.
    4. add the grilled/fried fish pieces and mix without mashing them.
    5. add more lemon juice if needed. serve garnished with coriander leaves.
    goes well with rasam rice/ dal chawal/ chappati

    GRILLED PRAWNS

    large prawns - 12 nos.

    marinade
    garlic paste - 1 tsp
    lemon juice - 2 tbsp
    oil - 1 tbsp
    turmeric - 1/4 tsp
    onion paste - 2 tbsp
    green chilli paste - 1 to 2 tsp
    cumin powder - 1 tsp
    salt

    marinade for 20 minutes, put on skewers and grill till done.

    How do you clean the fish from the supermarket ? I use lemon juice but still the smell lingers.

    try out a mixture of salt & turmeric powder...

    yes, as dev said, use salt and turmeric along with a little yogurt....
    but tint.....good fish only gives u a salty sea smell but other than that if it is too smelly may be it turned bad..plz check out...

    king fish slices - 4 nos
    (add the normal indian masala used for fish fries and fry ). remove . keep aside.

    in the same oil fry thinly sliced onions till brown and crisp. remove

    add pine nuts and fry. remove.

    add 2 cups of cooked rice to the oil and saute a few minutes.

    arrange the rice on a platter, sprinkle pine nuts and set the fish slices on top.

    serve hot.

    fish fry :

    onion : 1 small size
    tomato : 1 small size
    ginger : a very small piece ( 2 inch size)
    garlic : 4 or 5 (pallu) (which is equal to the size of ginger)
    tamarind : little (konjam na, 3 fingers la 2 inch alavuku)
    pepper / chilli power : for your taste
    salt : for your taste
    kesari powder : a little
    oil : as much as need

    smash onion, tomato, ginger & garlic with mixie. (you will get a masala paste)
    mix tamarind with water and filter the water.
    clean fish and keep it in a vessel
    mix the masala paste, tamarind water, pepper / chilli powder & salt in every piece of fish. atlast mix kesari powder (red colour) mix it in all pieces (just for colour)

    now, keep a pan with oil in the stove... and fry the fish... (beware, u mixed masala's and tamarind. so, seekiram karigidum... konjam jaakiradhaiya pakathula irundhe fry seiyanum...)

    surely, it taste's very nice.. its my favourite one...

    today, i made fish manchurian to go with mixed veg and shrimp fried rice....everyone was licking fingers

    FISH KOFTAS

    boneless fish - 500gm, steamed and flaked
    small potato - 1, boiled and mashed
    onion - 1, finely chopped
    ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
    garlic paste - 1 tsp
    green chilli paste - 1/2 tsp
    black pepper - 1 tsp, ground
    coriander leaves - 2 tbsp, chopped
    salt
    1 slice bread soaked and squeezed

    1. mix the above together and make small balls.
    2. beat an egg white with salt and pepper; dip the fish balls in the beaten egg white, roll on bread crumbs and deep fry till golden.
    3. serve hot with ketchup.
