adding on to the link between "maana ho thum" and "madhanotsavam", the rojaa malarE song, azhagOviyam uyiraanadhu by aadiththiyan (?) is a shameless copy of the latter!
Never argue with a fool or he will drag you down to his level and beat you at it through sheer experience!

Read ahead Only If you have a strong/brave heart:

In the song both vijaykanth and rekha, dressed as mermaids , with buckets of rosepowder painted on their faces, will keep pouting their lips like the fishes do and they will go kissy kissy on each other cheeks. All these will be shown in close up for painful long torturing 3 minutes.[/quote]
    Beautiful,true comments!!!!!!!!
    With Love,
    Usha Sankar.

Vijaykanth in mermaid costume-aa? AyyahO kadavuLe idhu thAngAdhu. Mermaid-naa kadal kanni achE? Ivaru yaaru?

Ramki: You know there is a rare combination of singers for a triangular love song starting with "Kadhal polladhadhu". SPB for VK, PS for Rekha and Chitra for RamyaKrishnan. Good song.

one of my favourite duets by KJY - KSC.
the film sank without a trace.

    ramki :

VK - lakshmi combination ninakkum poluthu i could think of kaalaiyum neeyae maalaiyum neeyae film.
is there any possibility of uploading songs of that film ??

    maanthaLire mayakkam enna(dhevadhai)

    Pick #139

    http://tfmpage.com/stream/songs/maanth_dt.rm

    Song: maanthaLire mayakamenne
    Film: Devathai
    Singer: SJanaki
    Lyrics: kaNNadasan?
    Music: Shyam

Devathai, a supposedly comeback film of veteran actress Jayanthi, had 2 beautiful solos by SJanaki.
The popular 'Galeer galeer' and todays pick.
'maanthaLire' , little bit inspired from 'aajare' (madhumathi) starts like 'annakiLi' song(the humming part) and the interludes have salilda's touch . So does most of shyams songs anyway.
Devathai had Jayanthi, sivakumar, Lavanya, jaiganesh . I remember watching this film few years ago on DD . A 2.30 hrs film was heavily censored to last less than 1.30 hrs. The film had a malayalam feel throughout..slow moving, explicit(in 1970s standards) and a tragic ending.
I think todays pick is picturised on Layanya

    HI Ramki !

a nice song.. indeed.. picturised on Lavanya. ( but the picturisation is not good.. with bad dress sense ... and not so good dance movements)

Just to hear the song is more than enough.. than to see !! We can imagine a beautiful scenario in our mind...

thanks for this lovely song !

The opening humming reminds me of kaNden engum poomagaL naatiyam... not sure if this is just me or not! But MaanthaLire is indeed a very nice song. Am hearing it after a very long time. As usual SJ excels in this song. Thanks for the treat Ramki!

    Nice song.

To me the songs sounded more like 'Kuyile Kavikuyile..'

Thanks once again for giving us the lost gems

    Thanks Madhu, RC and balaji.
IMO, the song has slight resemblance to all the 3 songs.

Are there any other song in Devathai other than these 2 solos?
