Hello to All... I am New to the new forum. hope I will share what I know about old movies.

Ponnonjal and SonthangaL vazha (Jaishankar and Jayachithra) have the same story lines and released one after another. It was a tale around two family heads having rivalry in between but the siblings get attracted to each other; patiently waiting for their lead people to make then united. This story, later, had been repeated in many many movies by different makers. Cursed the viewers, shelling out bucks to make the creators rich without any good returns

MSV's score in music was at peak for a very long time in 60s and 70s. Both duets of TMS+PS were super hits shadowing this POW wherein Ushanandini imagining Sivaji as Lord Krishna and singing this song. Andha kaalaththu PLeela's Kaathirppan kamala kaNNan-kku equivalent??

One good thing... Failure of the movie (released in Plaza theatre) did not force the music lovers to shut their ears to the good work of MSV & his vocal team.

    Ponnonjal... urasi paarthaal pithalaioonjal

    http://raretfm.mayyam.com/stream/pow06/thookam_am.rm

    Song:thookam un kaNgaLai
    Film: aalayamani
    Singer: Sjanaki
    Lyrics:kaNNadasan
    Music: Viswanathan - Ramamurthy

A Classic. What else should i say about this popularand beautiful gem?. The only sore point of this song: It always reminds all the unnecessary over the top expressions by Vijayakumari.

I'm sure SN23 will add more details.

    Over to SN23

Ramki Anna, Many thanks for hosting this gem. Also thanks for believing me that I can share something. But the fact remains that you and many others are here with Doctorates in TFM

It is very special for every artist involved in this song. If Best Female Singer award was institutionalized in early 60's, SJ would have easily snatched it. MaNimagudam on SJ's head. Her voice and singing with apt emotions (very very apt.... not overdoing at all) made elevated this as one of her top 5 best songs.

As you said, Vijayakumari has acted as if she was acting for a pathos song. May be with aanandha kaNNeer. Luckily SSR sleeps in that song

SJ's voice was a perfect match for VK also. Besides PKM songs, the one from Padha kaNikkai (Poojaikku vandha malarE vaa), aha thEninum inimai.

Every time Aalayamani song is aired, that Satti suttadhadaa will be, mostly. Enakku kaduppu vandhu and yell "suttaa yenda thodareenga" (NOM to anyone).

In the stormy days of MGR and Sivaji, our Kadhal mannan Gemini used to be a thendral. May be SJ's voice was a Zephyr in the Brawny rule of PS and a few others in 60s & 70s.

Kodi nandrigaL for hosting SJ songs this week. That too from the gana-surabhi of MSV. Hats-off to you, Ramki
