why are some threads are locked in this forum

Threads are locked for many reasons

It could be because:

a) It has outlived its purpose - almost like an expiry date has been reached and discussions on the topic are of no point really

b) It is a duplicate thread - a previous thread on the same topic is already existing

c) It is posted in the wrong forum

d) The discussions in the thread are going down the drain with people calling names, mudslinging, using profanities and obscenties etc etc

e) It is an announcement thread where no discussion is called for eg: announcing a new feature, the launch of the magazine etc

f) Locked because the purpose of the thread has been achieved - eg this thread is now locked because you've received the answer to your question and further discussions on this will be just chat.
