Raj: This song always reminds me of only two people - my mother and my grandfather! My grandfather supposedly always sang this song to my mother when she was upset! I've always felt this was a lovely song because of that!

jn: The title has to do with MMDD selecting the raagam. He talks about atana for the song and picks desh conveying that 'paasam' is best suited for convincing a child.

Thanks for this AWESOME link raj. It educates me on raaga rasam. as u had mentioned in '1000 songs" therad, shivaranjani was popularly and widely handled in hindi film music. Many of my favourites are from hfm too

Hindi movies have used Shivaranjani a lot. It is supposed to depict karuNaa rasam. It has been used for a number of songs depicting sadness!
thankyou raj, enjoyed it thoroughly...esp in this song karuna rasam vida. I would say.... "lost...and yearning...haunting" defintiely. Edho pazhaiya ninaivu vara mathiri. Thankyou.

No wonder in adutha varisu they used shiva ranjani to repeat the MEMORIES back thankyou.
