Thanks priya for this site. reading PS is an experience in itself. One never reads it actually one lives with it. I ve lived with vandiyathevan, poonguzhali, aazhvarkkadiyaan so many times. Loves to read it again and again. recently Kalki had issued at nominal cost. I bought it and will keep them with me forever. An historcal novel told in such a social way is something beyond imagination. Pity that Kamalhassan could not make a movie of it. I wish he does it and v can see the characters in real also. But one thing, Kamal should not take the part of vandhiyatevan, for he has become too old for it.

Dear Friends,
I have read Ponniyin Selvan many times over. I do not know any one who has read it only once. I know of at least two persons to whom Ponniyin Selvan was read aloud (because they could not read Tamil) who later learnt Tamil script so that they could and did read the book and savour it entirely by themselves. It is not uncommon that as one is reading the book, many of the characters appear in one's dreams! Is there an exception ?
Ponniyin Selvan is not a novel. It is an epic!

ah ponniyin selvan! it is like living in the old age. now i am 50 yrs old and i read ponniyin selvan twice. i still remember almost all the characters. the brave vandhiyathevan, the handsome arulmozhi, fragile vaanathi, brave old periya pazhuvettaraiyar, his brother chinna pazhuvettaraiyar @ kaalaanthaga kandar, the royal mother chembian maadevi, the unpredictable aditya karikalan, mysterious nandhini, soft but strong kundavai nachiar, poonguzhali, her father thyaga vidangakkaraiyar, the warrior vaishnavite azhvaarkadiyan nambi, senthan amudhan, kanda maaran.., oh it is a long list. even places like kodikkarai and kuzhagar koil, uraiyur are immemorable. i just love ponniyin selvan and am a fan of kalki. i am happy that there are friends with whom i can share my feelings about the great epic.
