    Manu Smruthi- A Discussion

Let us discuss the good and bad aspects of Manu Smruthi. This Manu Smruthi has been considered as one of the Sacred texts of Sanaathana Dharma.

But if one read the texts of Manu Smruthi, one can see a big collection of Hatred against one particular cast- The Shudra Cast.

How authentic is this Manu Smruthi? IS this seprate tect or it is in between some other puranas? We have heard that there are 18 Manus. Of these 18 Manus which Manu, gave this? Can this be taken as a sacred text?

Do you think, that there is a mistake or conspiracy, in bringing out what is Manu Smruthi to people?

We will deceide on whether to hold this as a sacred text or to throw....

Even Hitler's Mein Kampf (?) cannot be thrown out. We need such texts also to be lying there somewhere to remind ourselves that we should not make same mistakes again. We should also devote consciously time to analyse such cruel thoughts(segeregation and discrimination based on caste) in human consciousness and how such thoughts can be prevented from getting transformed to habits and actions of the society(atleast in future ).
Apparently, a democracy is a place where numerous elections are held at great cost without issues and with interchangeable candidates.

From my experience, there is a "shudra" caste in every society. What I think is Manu was accepting the reality. But his reasons and justifications have religious overtones; this is why there this so much sensitivity. If Manu had given his laws purely in the format of economics, I do not anticipate such commotion as this. Still, the point is, in every human society, there are class divisions, whether one gives the reason for the division as "God" or "globalization." So perhaps Manu can be regarded as insightful for recognizing a fundamental condition of the human nature.

Manu has given economic principles also...but his comments regarding Shoodra cast is not very much acceptable...

In what is "available as Manu Smruthi" ( ), Manu comments about how one shd name his offspring..in that Manu says..

A Brahmana shd name his Son, that indicates something regarding knowledge or Power.
A Kshthriya shd name his Son that indicates success or power.
A Vaishya shd name that indicates prosperity or wealth....
and a Shudra shd name that indicates something detestable.....

I DONT ACCEPT this...either Manu is not God or there is a conspiracy in what has been given to us as MANU SMRUTHI!

That's what we finally arrive at, is it? Who was Manu then? Who conspired against him? What about the centuries of atrocities commited on the 'low born, detestable' classes? Of course, we can't blame Manu. Any detestable aspect we find in ancient texts was inserted in later years through a dark and vicious web of conspirers.
Could it be the dominating class of the day? - Any 'shudra' who hears the vedas with the intention of memorising, will have molten lead poured in his ears - Why were the vedas, that preach universal brotherhood and prosperity not heeded to then?

Do you mean not at all acceptable, or not acceptable to a certain degree?

    Questions, questions and more questions..
